HI
I have a problem when playing Aces high: I cant adjust the head position using the keyboard. The problem happened all of sudden during game play and I cant rectify it. It has affected Track IR as well so I cant move forwards, back, yaw or move sideways. It happens weather I play with track IR on or not. Can anyone help? I think its a corrupt file but do I have to reinstall everything?

Try renaming the "settings" folder and see if that clears it up. If it does, you can copy files from the old "settings" folder to the new one.
I would guess you have a corrupt *.kmp (key mapping) file. Copy the rest of the files from the old folder to the new one and that will restore all but the key mapping.
If the problem does not go away when you rename the "settings" folder, then it could be something external capturing those keys.

Hi Skuzzy
Thanks for suggestions. I renamed the settings file and it worked fine. When I copied all the original setting files across except any .kmp files which I left in teh renamed folder I still had the problem, I assume it is therefore a different file and not a .kmp file causing the issue?

Stop or pause trackir. It won't allow the head position to be adjusted while it's active.

Seems likely. Delete the new settings file that was created. You can set up from scratch or try just copying the jsm files. Copy your login.cfg file too.

Don't delete anything! Just stop trackir and you'll be able to adjust your head position. This is not a major deal.
While TrackIR is running when you try moving your head position all that happens is a slight budge in the direction you're trying to move with the keyboard but no more. That sound like what's happening? That's why. Stop or pause TrackIR.

Drano the OP said the problem occurs even when TrackIR is turned off and it goes away when he deletes his old settings.

Ah. I missed that. I'd had the same problem when I started with TIR and that was what fixed me up. I thought when he said it came back it was because he was running TIR, which won't let ya change head position.
Of course ever since I've stopped tweaking my head position and just go with the home position using TIR.

He does seem to have a corrupt file. It will take a bit of time to track it down, starting fresh and adding them in a bit at a time.

Here's an update to this recurring problem which may be helpful! I recently returned to AHII after a long absence with a new computer and flight controllers all of which required going through the arduous task of mapping them to my liking. During that process, I too experienced a lockup of the keys which control head position.
I found this thread and renamed my settings file which helped temporarily. Turns out, the actual problem however was related to my efforts to program my mouse controller to point and fire guns in bombers. For some reason, mapping the mouse keys would lockup the head positioning keys. When I unmapped the mouse keys, I would get my head positioning capability back.
The trade-off is I can't use my mouse to control my bomber guns. Any thoughts?
