Title: Internet Browser Issues
Post by: Serenity on January 13, 2016, 10:09:52 AM
Hey, I've tried the normal google search and found nothing, and since you guys are SO much better at solving issues, I thought I would come here.

My browser is google chrome. On my desktop, any time I use gmail, google search, or any other google service, only a few images load, and the rest display that little clip-art picture that you see when an image fails to load.

Any idea why this is happening?

No idea why it's happening...

One idea to fix it: Reset Chrome. Official 101 here (https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/3296214?hl=en).

If that doesn't help, try resetting Internet Explorer (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/923737) because it affects all Internet activity. One easy way they don't tell is to go to Control Panel -> Internet Options, no need to open IE.

Just did both. No dice. It's only with google searches and google apps, if I use Bing (god forbid) everything loads just fine.

I find it ironic Google browser has trouble with Google served content but no trouble with Bing served content.

My solution would be to dump Chrome and go back to Pale Moon, but that's just me.

One far fetched idea: Delete your searches and browsing activity information collected by Google: https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/465?hl=en (https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/465?hl=en). You might also want to prevent them from saving that data also in the future, as described on the same site.

Try and see if your time and month is the correct date.

Given that it's most likely something to do with QUIC. I've seen QUIC create false positive UDP floods.

What sort of router do you use?

Router?  It's my own code on a Linux based box,..sort of.  I had to modify the OS network stack.

I was not aware they actually rolled out QUIC.  I never thought much of the idea.

If you haven't sorted that out yet, here's another idea that worked today: A client couldn't get into the banking site using Firefox. I of course tried resetting which didn't do all the things I've been used to see. And as in your case, it didn't help.

So I went and deleted all history from the settings, after which I ran CcLeaner (http://www.piriform.com/) to clean all temporary files from the entire computer. Then I ran the reset again, this time with a more familiar result. Problem solved.

Are you using an SSD and you moved your cache to "save" on your SSD lifespan?

Don't do that.

Not your router, Serenitys. QUIC has been active for over a year.

I haven't been home to try this, but it's a hard-wire from the modem, not wireless. No SSD, time and month on the toolbar on the desktop are correct.
