Title: What happened to the DA arena
Post by: Black Jack on January 15, 2016, 07:06:00 AM
What happened there? There is nobody no more in the duel arena. Did we lose enough players that it's empty? Not that I was there all the time but when action was slow and wanted quick dogfights I would go in there and ask for 1 on 1 fights   :bolt:

Everyone is scared to 1v1 fight now due to extreme egotistical attitudes and their YouTube videos.  :neener:

Many people just get picked in the DA lake so its not much different than the MA.

The DA lake automatically starts people off at 5K there by giving them the direct advantage.

#s do have an impact and everyone wants to be apart of the action so they instinctually join the MA.

My advice,

Ask people on 200 or individually. There are still some great sticks and learning sticks who will 1v1 and communicate with them that you are not serious about keeping tabs, and maybe you can get a duel or a group in the DA.

As Violator said, just ask on 200.

Ask in the main arena and take someone there. That is what it was designed for.

In Midwar on Monday nights we have now started up the Monday Night Midwar Madness and it is great fun. Folks up from Bish and Rook from 2 predetermined bases and just fight. Great fun.

OK! I hear some critiques coming for what I am about to say.
I go into DA to pratice db and attack because the TA doesn't allow it.
Since the strokes, this is what I do along with training in TA
My problem is when I am in DA and others are not, someone (usually a regular)
comes and shoots me down or harasses me.
I will continue to go into DA and I will continue to practice but I will
not be at the main DA area!!

I would rarely go in the DA before.  Maybe for FSO practice or squad practice but that is about it.

I need to improve my fight in a plane.  No doubt about that.

For me it isn't the SA or the moves.  It is simply my aim and damage made to another plane.  I never seem to get enough rounds down to knock an opponent down as often as I feel I should.

When I would go to the DA and play in the pond, sure, it was fun until you ended up on the deck eventually and a very select few would pick you off in a fight.  But again, that is what the pond is.  A few would never really truly engage as you always found the same people landing kills.  Meaning they have no intension of actually totally committing to a fight.  Just fly around and find an already developed fight and make your passes.  Easy pickings.

I simply didn't like that part of it.  Truthfully, my draw to the game is everything it has to offer.  And in the MAs you get that.  Everything!

That is really the only reason I don't spend a whole lot of time in the DA.  Met some good people in there though.

I have tried many a time to get people to go to the DA when the numbers are low.  Too many working on their bomber and GV stats to get much of a response from a fighter type request.

One, F3 flying is common or so I have been told.

Two, you take off thinking everyone will come in at takeoff altitude only to find a couple of 190s at 10000 ft.  Same as the MA but this is suppose to be dueling arena but few want to go into a fight at co E.

Three lots tauntiing goes on.

Just not much funj

I used to be in the DA and never in the Ma. I got tired of the people who didn't really want to dogfight, but to just pick furballs, so I started in the mA and unless it's a private with a friend or two, the DA is worthless.

I like having more then 2 in there...4 6 8 people make it more fun because you fight different birds and plane styles...it would be nice if the DFC was better about getting groups of people in there.

Several of us get together in there every so often and have on the deck fights between two bases for nothing but fun.

It's funny all the "lets take this to the da!!!!!!" Comments I've seen on 200 or Pms over the years

You will learn more in the DA then anywhere else even if you get shot down every time. Yes you get some wannabees in the DA lake that just pick that cant handle MA. But where better to learn low alt defense then DA where you can up faster and get practice faster with less flying time from place to place ( Like the art of the bleed  :)). You will also get lots of people that will help you if you just ask and from very good sticks also. The game has a very steep learning curve and the more hrs you put in and learn from them the better you will get. You get faster hrs in in the DA then anywhere else.  :)

Custom arenas get you more reps...I think AH should make The Fews 1v1 arena the new DA.

True, but why even call it a "Dueling Arena" if it isn't for fighters...should be battle arena  :D

DA used to be an awesome venue but lately there is just so much poor game play , insults , taunting and down right embaressing behavior people are tired of right clicking and reporting players with NO outcome at all that they just say the Hell With IT. Best luck with begging on 200 only to have some swollen ego player and the term {player} is used very loosely ,slap a video of you on youtube and downgrade you some more. Miss the days where we helped each other out and dueled to improve situational awareness. Also having 160 to 180 players MAX in main arena lends to their just not being enough in the pool to trickle down to the Dueling Arena. If DA time is what you really are looking for ask someone to join you on channel 200. Poor gameplay, constant verbal abuse allowed on channel 200, and mods hit or miss addressing to such has a big deal to do with current conditions and arena numbers as well. People are just tired of it so they stick to what suits them and keep it moving. Been here since 2005 and see the same people soon as I long on spamming 200 all day with insults and taunts towards players.

I'm used to it seeing and dealing with it but to the new players just downloading the game and think they are going to be engaged in fun encounters with players on all sides of the map ,or simply just respected as a fellow player etc. etc. They let their 2 week subscription run out and they go play XBOX or Play Station and give us not a 2ND thought. Take a look at the comparison of arena numbers from today to some years ago. Of course this is a game of war and for the most part with the exception of handfull of youth the play the game we are all grownups but certain players have turned the venue into the tonight show without Letterman or Leno. By all means after a good fight ....chest thump and Five but try giving a  :salute ,or a helpful tip or hint as to what was done in error during the engagement as some do rather than downgrading the person who has already lost and been killed by you further twisting knife in a bested opponent. I have been contributing $14.99 a month into this game for 11 YEARS and 2 months. That totals out to $2008.67 not to include the computer rigs and CH gear and everything else that comes along with the investment. Some of us Ole'Timers may know just a tiny bit of which we speak give or take :D. This is one of the best if not the best first person shooter realtime flight simulation games out there available to us and it's up to each one of us to keep it that way in order to bring in NEW players! You may find that seed planted will render much more FRUIT for the game.
