Title: I wonder
Post by: iKo on January 16, 2016, 02:22:57 PM
I just loaded the beta and I get 30 to 60 fps in AH but I get 8 fps in the tower beta. Is this what I have to look forward to?

Depends on you computer specs, and some game settings like Environment Mapping.

Your not alone.  I've managed to get it into the low 20's now.  Had to turn off a lot of details, video settings, etc.  I'm hoping there will be a resolution to this issue.

The resolution is probably going to be upgrading of computers. One cannot expect to run a newer game on an older computer. The way AH3 processes video has changed, it no relies on the video card for processing, as opposed to the CPU doing the work in AH2.

As Copprhed said, a real gaming video card will be needed for the game.

I get decent frame rates with a second hand Radeon HD6970 on an 8 years old computer, HiTech himself has a Core2Duo E8400 with a GeForce GTX 660 as a development system. So it's not a budget issue.

I can't justify purchasing a new computer when this one is barely over a year old.  I suspect many will just have to call it quits for a while.

Forget a new PC just a video card will be 600 to 1000 bucks for the game, if you want to be happy.

CSI147, I've seen several people wonder why the game won't run on their new computer. New isn't a synonym for capable. Just like you can't compete an F1 car with a go-cart even though both are made for racing, have four wheels etc.

Understood. I got the fastest one at the time I could afford last year.  Trust me I was searching for an answer on the forums on what I would need before I purchased this last computer.  I waited as long as I could.  No one wanted to give an answer about what the requirements would be for this newer game.  I suspect others are in the same boat.

The problem is, we (other players) still don't know what will be needed for the final release. As has been said, this is a work in progress. That being said, your problems with the Beta are very helpful. As long as you can play the current game without major issues, you're fine. The testing has already gone through almost a hundred of patches, all of which have had more or less issues. HTC is trying to fix all of them. The more they get information about how different computer layouts can run the game, the more compatible it will become. Your input is very valuable.  :salute

One thing I can cross off the list of thing of things to try is firmware update.  I just did that and gained 1fps with AH2 but nothing for AH3beta.  Oh well.
