At least 40% of the action reports written by fighter pilots in the real war show that they were around 30,000 feet.
It would be nice if we didn't have to spend a bunch of time to climb for a duel that plays out at historical altitudes.

:airplane: From what I was told by the "old" heads, who flew in the big show, most action with the fighters was between 20 and 30 thousand feet, very seldom ever working down to the deck. If the "Krauts" caught the ponies and fork tailed devils and jugs down low, working on ground emplacements, then there was a down low "fur" ball! I can't remember where I read this or was told this, but the FW's and ME's mostly worked best between 10K and 25K. Only really good "high" altitude fighter was the P-51's!

Well, if they would have been fighting on equal terms i believe that the 190D and the K-4 could have match the pony at alt. (as well as the spit XIV) But LW had neither the numbers or the pilots to match the Allies at the end. US and British pilots had 350-400 hours before they were sent into action, German pilots got 75-100 at best.

I want 262s in the DA. make 30k mountains around a 2x2 sector "262 arena" It's not cool that we can't dogfight in 262s.

You have no one to blame but yourself. There are threads showing you interrupting private duels and claiming not to understand what a "dueling arena" is for. People like you are the reason we can't have nice things in the DA. Even if 262's were enabled at certain fields, it's almost guaranteed that people like you would figure out a way to get them into the furball area and grief the people there, or just interrupt private duels.
They could ring the place with 75k mountains and knowing you, you'd probably land the darn thing and spend hours taxiing up and over them! :rolleyes:

Not sure if they're working at the moment, but a private arena would do it.

Only really good "high" altitude fighter was the P-51's!
Um, wasn't the P-47 pretty good up there too? I heard they were...
What I would like in the DA is a 30K base (or at least a spawn), that actually goes down to the deck. As it is now, the high alt bases don't go down very far.

My only experience is in Aces High, but with that said, I was a P47N Jug Pilot for years until I transitioned to Luftwaffe aircraft. IMHO the TA152 is the best fighter at 30k and above.
