Prices on futures will continue to drop. Saudi Arabia is hurting and Iran is going to see that it continues to hurt. This could destroy OPEC.

My opinion:

If enough Iranian oil is put on the market, it will help depress the value of oil and hasten the coming global financial crash (which would happen anyway, just some months later).

The financial crash will be initially deflationary at least for stocks, bonds, and real estate (as giant debts are defaulted on) then inflationary (for everyone, as world governments go full Keynesian and finally succeed in enormously devaluing their currencies).  In the process, many people will lose jobs, and there will be increased political turmoil.  Only once the gargantuan malinvestment has been liquidated and governments stop sabotaging free markets will things can get back to a growth path.

Middle Eastern oil is easier to access and refine, and thusly costs less.  Oil in North America is more difficult to access and harder to refine.  Remember the big oil boom in the U.S. and Canada from about 2010-2014?  OPEC is producing like crazy to keep oil prices suppressed.  This truly is costing hundreds of thousands of American jobs (actually possibly millions, according to the American Petroleum Institute).

It sounds counterintuitive, but we need oil prices to rise above $75/bbl to stimulate the U.S/Canadian economy.  This also ironically sparks green energy production and more fuel efficient vehicles.

What we have now is as close as a free market we can get when it comes to oil. In the short term it is nice to have cheap oil but if prices stay low for another year the effects can be a lot less positive on many levels.

I buy my oil from ISIS. Great prices, discrete delivery, and it serves to keep both ISIS and Iran busy with each other.  :aok

Since our government lifted sanctions, Iran can flood the market with cheap oil thus impacting the stock market even more so than now.

They could kill our economy and make 2008 look like a walk in the park.

Back in the 1970s they were "killing our economy" by closing the taps and forcing prices to skyrocket. Now they're "killing our economy" by flooding the marked with cheap oil?
