Title: Monday Night Madness 8-10PM Eastern U.S. - EARLY WAR Arena
Post by: Oddball-CAF on January 24, 2016, 02:55:23 PM
Okay gents,
Molsman had indicated last week that he'd like to do an "early war" version of our
"MidWar Madness" event.
So, in the spirit of accomodating other fun-loving pilots, we'll move "M3" to
the Early War Arena for this week.
  Basic times: 8-10PM Eastern U.S.
  Basic rules: Max alt 10K
                    No vulching
No manning of field guns or wirbels, etc..

We'll be split between "Rooks" and "Knights". Pilots on both sides
will use channel 151 vox and text. The "All" channel can be used by
anyone.

Regards, Odd

Sounds good.  It will be a fun change and we'll see how it goes.

You might want to bring some paramedics along though as the one or two regulars might lose it when they see all of us in there :D

1) Wirbels are disabled in Early War.
2) I doubt the no manned gun, max altitude or vulching restrictions are enforceable. Griefers gonna grief.
A big salute to Odd in trying to mix up the game.  :salute

Hi Ruf,
It actually does work. Nobody's manned any ack or taken wirbels or vulched in the past 4 weeks of
the Mid-War arena when we've done "Monday Night MidWar Madness".
Hell, last week the Knights purposely pulled the fight back 4-5 miles away from our
Rook field to give us some breathing room.
It's refreshingly civilized and a lot of fun. :)

Best, Odd

Another fine time.  Fun to see guys landing 3-4 kills in I16s.

Thanks to all who joined in.

My regrets for being the 'glass is half empty' guy, but there was some uncivilized behavior in the EW arena yesterday.

1. It only took one guy on bish to spike the ENY for the dozen guys on each of the other sides.
2. One gv guy shelled the opposing field.

Someone on vox suggested the AvA as a two sided configurable arena. I lost interest in the AvA when it became a -109er pick fest; but, it could be made to work.

In any event, it was a lot of fun in the MNM - EW Edition.  :salute

People should give it a try. It does affect precious LW scores, so it is a much less inhibited environment.

When I came in there was 29 players furballing! It was great to fly the early war planes in a competitive environment. I vote for an early war Monday night once per month or even every other week.

The I-16, c202, and the early Zeke kite are a blast to fly. My most fun sortie was in the SBD!

There's was only one person intentionally and frequently going for head on shots, but he was easy to counter or avoid once identified.

The single guy on the third team killed the eny and forced me into the 202... Thanks! I may not have flown it otherwise, what a sweet flying plane. Good times, dyn-o-mite.

Best-flying plane in the game.  Needs guns.  Sorry I missed this, did it turn out that lots of people were flying the Spit5?

- oldman (Spit5 shouldn't be there)

I took a goon up twice. Could not get a chute snag on an enemy though. LOL.

Nah, it was pretty much the same as the MW nights with half the people flying the brewster hehe.

Just a thought, but as I've noted some complaints about "ENY"  in Monday Night Mid-War (and Early War) Madness,
perhaps the administrators of the "Axis vs Allies" arena could "loan" us that arena for one night,
configuring it for us with the appropriate plane sets, and making a very simple map
with just two airfields close together for our use; one Knight, one Rook.

I had a lot of fun this time around using the "Early War" planeset. It was every bit as much fun
as our play had been using the Mid-War aircraft. So, I'm up for a rotation of once or twice per
month between Mid and Early War versions of "Monday Night Madness" if that's a direction
we as a group would like to travel.

My thanks to all who attended this past Monday night! If you had fun with it or on any
of the previous Monday Night events, tell your AH friends and squaddies so they can
join in on the fun as well. The more, the merrier !

Best, Odd

Hi Jaeger,
Outstanding, let's run with that, then!
(1) We could use any small map that you currently have which has two fields
25 miles apart (no further, please) with no hills separating them.

(2) Vehicles disabled at those two bases along with manned ack if possible.

(3) Radar - unable to kill or set to a hardness factor making 'em impossible to drop.

(4) Ammo bunkers - same. (So guys can take buffs up and bomb a town / be bait)

(5) Same planes / setup as currently availlable in Mid-War other than the above ammo/radar/vehicles
     suggestions.

We would require the arena between the hours of 7-11 PM (Eastern U.S.) each Monday night.

Those are just my recommendations, and not "cast in stone". If anyone has any other input
on the setup, don't be shy.  :D

My thanks!

Odd

Thanks!

What would people think about maybe making this AvA but EVERY Axis plane (from all theatres) on one side and EVERY Allied one on the other?

If not this week I'd love to try it in the future.

Edit... just to clarify: I mean every mw/ew plane

vudak has a valid point, can we do that or no?

as for the bases, i think i have a good terrain in mind for you

I'd be up for that if we rotated from Axis to Allies each week.
ie: Knights week 1 = Allies, Rooks week 1 = Axis.
Of course there's nothing to stop guys from jumpin' countries
to fly a particular country-specific set of planes each week.
  Worth tryin' out, I guess.

Regards, Odd

I think the side switching in AvA is instantaneous so people could try both each night.

Very Good Ideals for this. Side Switching is very common in the AvA to keep the sides as balanced as possible. I have 2 more monday nights of night work left before I can return for the fun.
