Title: allow field/town supplies to be stockpiled
Post by: popeye on January 26, 2016, 11:47:52 AM
When a group decides to re-supply a field or town, often the re-supply is complete before the last M3s arrive and they get "no objects were re-supplied".  It might be nice if those supplies were stockpiled for the next damage done to the field/town.  Say, if there are 2 stockpiled supplies and a radar is destroyed, instead of 30 minutes downtime it would be 10 minutes.  If there are more stockpiled supplies than needed for the normal time to repair, then downtime would be some nominal "repair crew" time, maybe 1 minute.  The number of stockpiled supplies would NOT be known to the enemy, but they could be destroyed by killing the "barracks" (thus making it a bit harder for a single player to pork a field).

A group might even decide to "fortify" a field before using it for an attack to protect against the inevitable porker.  Also, eliminating the risk of a useless re-supply trip might encourage more to help out when needed.

kind of like if I shoot at an airplane that somebody else already got awarded a kill, transfer my bullets and damage to the next plane  I ping.

What this game definitely needs to do is encourage more non-combat play.

Resupply is already pretty much the best way to defend a base.  Do we really need to encourage it even more?

With enough stockpiled supplies, have the game put up a force field around the base, so bombs just explode harmlessly in the air, or planes explode if trying to strafe it.  :devil

+1 if the stockpiles can be destroyed by planes or GV's.

...just like WWII   ;-)

This is a GREAT idea and well worth instituting. As it currently stands, it's way too easy
for a single fighter to take away entirely, the ability to run offensive ops from a small field
by merely dropping two "ord bunkers", or "blinding" it by dropping the radar which is
just as easily destroyed.
"Stockpiling" supplies could be a great way to offset that; up to a limit, of course.
I'm thinking a specific area of the base, graphically designed to appear like a supply dump,
into which field supplies could be driven or air dropped in.
And yes, I'd be for including the ability for this "supply dump" to be capable of being
destroyed with the caveat that it not be as easy as it currently is to drop ords or radar
at a field.

Or the hardness could simply be increased so it would require more damage before it's destroyed.

That would eliminate the Ords being strafed down or least make it more realistic. No change on the Radar, but maybe generate a mobile radar with a shorter range that could be set up.
