By the way, I still need to check to see if any objects destroyed are too late to count (as axis had a bombing mission headed to Malta right at the end). Just want to let you folks know that I will take a look and subtract any such if needed.

We didn't think the Axis last mission to malta would make it on time.

It is a draw so far heading into frame 3, with 1 frame each so far for each side.

Tough luck on those hunk o steel allied ships, Brooke. Overall, I still think your squad of bombers did well. The F4Fs were insanely difficult to bring down. We for sure could have used another bomber group.
The fights were a lot of fun! Cheers to the guys who were able to fight at P55.
It was a very close fight. The Axis edged it out in the fighter skies, but it was tough to maintain two fronts.
Good job Allies
One note: my arena message was ahevents standard page. Not sure if others are like this, but for people just hopping in, it would be nice to have an introduction of the event.

I <S> the allies for their downing of a ship (great work, Allied bombers!) and capturing of a base. That was not easy to pull off.
I <S> their ship captain for a perfectly timed reversal on our second bomb run. Had he reversed the turn a couple of seconds earlier or a couple of seconds later, that CV would have received a lot of hits -- some of them from me. :aok With his excellent reversal, we instead landed no hits. :cry
I <S> their ship-defense fighters for a very spirited defense from bombers as well.

One note on the kill total. If I were to run this again, I would probably work on scoring that did not count GV's or C-47's or adjust in some other way. It is hard for the allies to capture in this one, and to do so, they must use waves of lvt's or C-47's that result in high casualty counts. If I were to score it like that in this one, the victory would still go to the axis side, but the kill total would be closer.
Thank you, everyone, for playing in this frame. <S>
Please help recruit for the final frame, frame 4: Those Who Fall (strategic bombing into northern Italy from Foggia).

Also, hats off to the allies for going for and achieving a capture in frame 3. That is impressive. <S>

:salute
Allies,
That was a tough one for you but once again the score does not convey how close it was. We knew we had to prevent capture but you did it anyway. It was just lack of air support that allowed us to take it back.
I agree with Brooke that GV kills should not count in the scoring as we just sat there in tanks and blew up LVTs for hours. I am not a good GVer and I managed to kill some.
:salute
See you next week.

To show folks how this scoring would go if I didn't count GV kills or C-47 kills (which is the way I should have written the scoring on this frame in obvious hindsight), here it is:
Note, this still isn't the way I would set up this frame if I were to run it again. There are other changes I would make to this frame if I were to run it again.
Anyway, frame 4 is nothing at all like frame 3 -- a totally different setup of strategic bombing, 15th AF vs. Luftwaffe.

By the way, here is how I look at the scoring for this one.

Oddly enough we had never planned on GV kills as counting for anything. Surprised that they are. I would also look closely at bumping up the points for objects destroyed. About double probably, but I haven't done the math.

Post by: Brooke on February 20, 2016, 05:51:46 PM
Frame 4
US 12th AF -------------- kills = 42 = 42 pts obj destroyed = 214 = 21 pts total = 63 pts
Luftwaffe -------------- kills = 57 total = 57 pts
Allied victory. Wow, that was a close one. Thanks, all, for flying in that!

Overall scenario
Allies won 2 frames (2 and 4) Axis won 2 frames (1 and 3)
Overall result is a draw.
Well fought, folks! <S>

Been away from the game for some time Having once been a constant participant.08-11. Just getting back to it. I was able to fly the last two frames with the Axis. :x
I love the organized flights and fights of scenarios and FSO both. :aok
Kept getting separated in frame 3 but did what I could. Frame 4 was great. The Allied fighter cover was a bear and I wanted to get me a bomber so bad that i fixated and died quickly doing all the things I was taught not to do years before. :joystick:
That was a blast! looking for the next one.

Not to get picky but I got this in a PM so I told the sharing party I would post it...
Total points through the scenario
ALLIED 447 AXIS 573
AXIS MINOR VICTORY :neener:
I really do not care as I responded to a few "Did you have fun?" "Did you experience a moment that you will remember for a long time?"
If yes..... Then you won no matter the scores
I enjoyed this scenario and working with the group leaders and Dantoo especially.
Thank you ALL

I have to say that yesterday's frame was the most insane, pulse-racing, white-knuckled action I've ever had in AH. As far as I'm concerned every one of us who got to fly in it came out winners. A massive :salute to those who put it together, to the leaders from both sides, and to the Allied pilots who fought us good guys tooth and nail through four frames!
(And two things I learned from Frame 4: (1) 110s have even bigger targets painted on them than buffs do. They're like giant P-51 and P-38 magnets! (2) If mass of 110s manages to get within spitting distance of a big formation of heavy bombers the resulting fight is like a bunch of guys soaked in gasoline flinging lit matches at each other. Even with my film from the first sortie slowed down to 1/7 speed there are so many planes exploding so fast it's hard to tell who's killing who.)

Here are a couple of films from Frame4. I didn't do anything great but it's just a perspective on some of the action from the Allied side.
