Now we test again with the changes,
With every thing disabled waffles machine went from 45 in the current patch to about 70 fps with the new optimization.
Turn VSync off in Video Settings.
Go to A1 of craterma
In Options/Grapic detail press default, so all ranges are set to default.
Disable ALL options ,
Set Environment map to None.
Press Ok.
Minimize the clip board and observe frame rate. And post your FPS in this thread along with the FPS you had in the previous thread.
Thanks
Dale

Dunno if I'm doing something wrong or what. Went into vid settings screen and disabled Vsync. Checked to make sure that is application controlled in CCC. It is. Put all the other settings per the instructions.
I get 59FPS in both beta 4 and beta 5. Wouldn't that indicate I'm likely still on Vsync? Even after going back into CCC and resetting Vsync globally to off instead of application controlled. At any rate I get no change between versions.
-
Update downloaded in 34 seconds and installed fine.
And WOW :aok
FPS went from 84 to 141 with everything disabled.(84 was day and 141 was night if that makes a difference)
I did not have the sliders at default for the first test so I left them where they were for the second.
(All about 2/3rds to the right) After putting them in default I got 138fps

Hitech,
Missed the 1st test cycle Boss........was actually working this last 2 weeks in very muddy field conditions......slept most of the time after work............ So I ain't got no previous FPS readouts according to your test criteria, but since I did read the 1st FPS thread and noted that you're more interested in older, slower vid card performance so I don't feel so left out.................
:old:
:D
Ran this FPS test according to your testing criteria as described in OP of thread and in addition I shut down AMD FreeSynch and the AMD FRTC at the vid card driver level to ensure that this is out of the way and not interfere.
Sitting on runway in Spitty Mk IX at A1 on Greebo's CraterMA arena:

I did have one unexpected thing happen after the patch.
Post Lighting paints a blue screen behind the Clipboard unless Post Lighting is Disabled.
JPGs attached. PostLight1 w/ blue screen, PostLight2 w/ Post Lighting set OFF.
-
I got the same blue background on PC2. Disabling post lighting turns it off. I can also toggle it on and off with shadows.
PC2 went from 145 to 200 FPS.
-
Tower A1 with default settings, no EM and clipboard minimised I got 308 FPS with Beta 4 and 385-395 FPS with Beta 5.

Yes, unless one of those two are checked, I get the blue screen so if I want Lens Flair and Antialias, I need to check Disable Shadows and uncheck Disable Post Lighting

Lenovo G50-45
AMD A8-6410 APU 2.00 GHz 6 GB ram 4.96 GB usable
80 FOV 1920X1080 128 max texture
13FPS at 1920x1080
24FPS flying around 1366x786 and oddly about 18FPS in the tower. Looks like complete crap but it might be playable... I guess. Who knows what would happen to my frames if there were a few sets of bombers or a big furball.

Should vsync be turned off in the game settings or the video card settings?
Is before: vsync on, and after: vsync off?
Thanks.

Downloaded craterma from download page, put in terrain folder, but game locks up when trying to load the map. only resolve was to do a hard reset on computer.

Get rid of the Craterma file you downloaded, that is for AH2 only. Go online, select the melee tab and then select CraterMA. The beta should auto-download the correct terrain file for you.
BTW testing FPS this way in beta 5 is only likely to be useful to HT if you also tested it the same way in beta 4.

A1 Tower 1130 Arena time:
Tower was 100, now 109
Runways was 72 -78, now 83 - 95 depending on runway direction.

Got it. Frame rate is at a 30 currently

I too missed the first test, but in beta 5 I averaged 174 with the test run at night, online, CraterMA, A1.
I'm running an E8400 4GB ddr2 system I upgraded to win7 64bit, and put a used nvidia gtx 480 1.5GB ddr5.

My apologies for missing/not posting in the first Frame Rate Test, I was enroute to florida and have just gotten back home today....
I did try and check with Beta 4, with your requested settings, hitech, sir, but did it in offline mode on CraterMA terrain
Beta 4 ( Offline ) 1st try = 119 2nd try = 151 <---( not sure what I did different, except rebooted my computer )
downloaded/installed Beta 5 patch, then rebooted PC
Beta 5 ( Offline ) 164 <----- EDIT: this was using the old Beta 4 version of CraterMA terrain, just to be clear!
Beta 5 ( Online ) 171 <-----> It downloaded an updated version of Greebo's CraterMA terrain, for Beta 5. I also did the test offline like I did for Beta 4, just to see if there was a difference
hope this helps

Drano, sir... If you are using the new ATI Crimson drivers, below the vsync setting toggle....... there is a slider of what you want your desired frame rate target set to, I had mine locked at 61, I moved the slider all the way to the right which on my PC, maxed out at 200 FPS..........I was having the same issue as you, trying to do the Beta 4 test, after disabling vsync, I was still getting 61 FPS, until I moved the Frame Rate Target slider
hope this helps

Haven't tried those yet. Guessing I won't benefit much performance wise with my slightly long in the tooth 6950. But then again the different control panel interface is worth exploring. Will give that a shot.

Went from 60 fps to 100 fps.

Drops drastically when enabling SLI on my non SLI motherboard. Although SLI does have a great benefit in AH2, it does the opposite in Beta = Down to 44 for 112
Slight Hijack here... :bolt:

5th test PC ( using ASUS EAHD3870 512MB GDDR4 Video Card - this VC is like 11 to 12 years old)
same deal, had to test Beta 4 offline before the update!
Beta 4 - CraterMA- vsync off - default settings - Bishops A1 field, clipboard minimized )
39 FPS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beta 5 - CraterMA ( offline ) ( using old Beta 4 CraterMA terrain, before recent update of the .res file )
58 FPS
Beta 5 - CraterMA ( online ) ( current CraterMA terrain .res update )
58 FPS
hope this helps

Make sure that SLI is actually active (if you use the express update it won't be after updating). Then make sure you have created a custom profile for AHbeta, and that the SLI method is set to "Force alternate frame rendering 2."

I am fairly certain that SLI is working, both from the display tool shown when alternate rendering is forced, and by the difference in fps when enabling and disabling.
However, strangely today the framerates were a good bit higher. Nothing new on my end that I can imagine. :headscratch:

In the tower I had a frame rate of 109! Wowie

Beta 5 frame rate 151
I am not sure what the frame rate was using this method on earlier versions.

The alternate frame rendering method seems to be the best SLI fix under Windows 10, and even for a lot of games that have not had this problem before.

Didn't do the first test ..
Second -- Went from 19 fps to 75 fps.

I then went into the video card control panel and turned off vsync. It went to 109, but with a 1/8th screen height black bar flickering from to to bottom at about 600 rpm.
I had to go to task manager to exit the game.
