Would the AH community be open to a different game mode?
I've played this game on-off for the past 4-5 years and its growing quite dull.
-
What kind of "game mode" are you talking about? Have you checked out the beta? You'll see that there are other game modes being tested, such as mission based arenas with PvP/PvE combat, a CTF arena and a couple of others.

Try flying in the special events like FSO, scenarios, King of the hill, and especially combat challenge. They are all very fun to fly in.
Check out the special events forum for details or go to AHevents.org!

what violator said and the game is what you make of it.
I don't get on as much as I would like anymore but when I have it's been fun. Can still shoot down guys like Pipz one handed, 2 on 1 with a spiking stick.

How dare you! :furious
Next time I will hold no punches! :old:
You have a stick???? I use keyboard only! :joystick:
Agreed! The game is a riot! Huzzah!!!!!! :aok :aok

I'd happily pay extra for a "FR" arena. It's like we're stuck in "RR" with blackouts. :airplane:

I was thinking of some type of Project Reality - AAS type game mode but with higher stakes.
at the most basic level
- You have to join an ingame "squad" of 8 player
- Voice comms would be limited to those in the squad
- squad leaders would be able to talk to other squad leaders
-the higher stakes come in with the respawn timers
-getting shot down is a 15 minute respawn (this would stop the suicide runs and encourage larger battles)
- ground vehicles have no respawn timer
- perked vehicles have multipliers attached to the normal respawn timer
(along with the normal perk cost etc.)
- the whole game mode would revolve around tickets
- dieing in a plane would be 1 whole ticket
- vehicles would be less
- bases would be ticket "banks" with larger bases would hold more tickets
- if you hold more than 55% of bases the other side bleeds tickets
- if your side gets to 0 tickets you lose
- two sides (not three)
- side balancing
- smaller maps
-hitech could lower subscript costs with micro-transactions (Respawn now for $0.99 or more)
any thoughts?
-
Sounds like a game I wouldn't want to play...sorry.

Already have this. Squad size is up to 32 but with multiple com channels you can already do this.

Would more likely cause timid game play. Players would be afraid to "die" and so would fight less, and run more (we have enough of that already). Respawning isn't an issue in most cases. Aircraft, defenders are low and slow, attackers have flight time so neither can be overwhelming. Vehicles, attackers have same drive time. I wish that the spawn area was a bit larger making spawn camping in vehicles much harder. I think it would generate more "hunts".

micro transactions are more of a game killer than almost anything. Earn it or it is useless. Subscription price is all up to HTC. They know what numbers they need to make the payments at the end of each month. If dropping the subscription to $9.95 and it DOUBLES the subscription base then I think they would be ok with it, but again it's their call.
-
What about a game mode where you have to fight?
-
Microtransactions would most likely kill a game like this mainly because there isn't a linear progression system. The progression earned is the level of knowledge and piloting skills you gain from playing. Your success in this game is highly dependent on your skill at flying/driving. You do earn perk points in the main arenas but that is more of a balancing aspect rather than an intrinsic part of the game.
However when it is implemented in a game that meshes well with it then it can be quite successful. See World of Tanks for example. Microtransactions work well in that game because they implement a deep progression/grind mechanic (i.e.: crew training, crew perks/skills, acquiring new equipment and upgrades, purchasing gold ammo, and a tier system spanning from 1-10). Progression is earned through playing thousands of battles. Microtransactions serve to reduce the amount of time it takes to progress- whether it is in the form of money, gold, or XP.
So to that note I say NO to microtransactions because this game does not cater to that system.
-
Ugh... micro transactions. Shiverrrr.
-
Yeah, a Pay-to-win system is a losing proposition for me.

I'd quit AH if this was in place.

. . . I've played this game on-off for the past 4-5 years and its growing quite dull.
Have you tried pickup missions?
I switch between fighters, bombers and GVs. It takes a bit of work to become proficient in all aspects of the game. Never a dull moment.
-
Yeah......................... ................. no.
50% of peeps in the MA already fly around like frightened sheep terrified of the impact their toon's death will have on their ego. The last thing we need is another incentive not to fight.

And 50% of peeps in the MA fly around being dweeby game-the-gamers, terrified of missing a chance at a virtual (insert favorite object here) measuring contest.

Agreed. Even after 10 years I am still amazed that someone would run (elbows in) from a 1v1 when THEY have the advantage... :bhead I laugh at the segment of the population who's only "skill" is BNZ. If I wanted to fly around all night running from a fight, I would play MSFS...

still trying to find out what "skill" is needed to play a cartoon game.......oh wait...ACM's on air craft that are not even close to being real :bhead

If there was no skill needed to play this game, it wouldn't be so much fun. YMMV

skill
the ability to do something well; expertise.
So are you saying this game doesn't require skill or I misunderstanding your context?
-
There is ALWAYS the AvA... just saying...
-
yeah lets see, spawn once every 15 minutes? dead arena for 12 minutes. respawn, dead arena for 12 minutes, rinse and repeat!

At least those 50% like to fight, not like the other group you belong to.

There are 10,000 different game modes now. Pick a different one that you don't normally do if you are getting bored.
