Title: Plane Line-Up.
Post by: BBP on February 24, 2016, 10:07:52 AM
I would love to be able to put 6 or 10 planes side by side. It would be great too see how big and small they are next to each other. I have seen them lined up on the side of the runway one time and it was awesome! I'm sure pilots would get a lot more out of it besides what I mentioned. Bring it on!

If you can get Hitech to code the plane objects so they don't set down on the terrain level to their center line, this would be great. On a terrain I built testing the Beta terrain editor for AH3 I thought that would be a nice idea for a photo op. A request in the open beta is still in effect for screen shots and films from the beta game to help advertise the up coming AH3. I thought a line up of the offerings by country along the runway would make a great screen shot.

All the aircraft sat down leveled to the line running through their nose to tail. Tricycle landing gear aircraft were ok, you had to accept sinking the main gear into the ground to get the nose wheel to touch or in the 38's situation, the nose wheel into the ground. Tail draggers, there was no way to pivot the tail wheel down to the ground after you set the main gear on the ground.

If you place tanks down as static objects on a hill side, they don't laydown following the slope of the hill. They lay down level with their tail end stuck in the hillside and the front poking out.

You can all ready  have the planes set on the wheels, but you have to edit the Pitch angle in the oba file directly.

Pull a 109 up next to a P47 sometime.  The difference in size is ridiculous.  I love big targets.

The order is roll, pitch, yaw, so rotate one object  find the yaw and then back up one paramater.
but here is the complete field order.

Also the unit is radians not degrees.

            Entry->Name,
            Entry->ShapeName,
            Entry->Pnt.x,
            Entry->Pnt.y,
            Entry->Pnt.z,
            Entry->Att.Roll,
            Entry->Att.Pitch,
            Entry->Att.Yaw,
            (Entry->Flags & tobjTOF_EDIT_SETABLE),
            (int)Entry->CountryOrField,
            (int)Entry->ObjectType,
            Entry->Hardness,
            Entry->DownTime,
            Entry->PointValue,
            Entry->ObjectID,
            //Entry->GroupID,
            0,// No longer Used
            Entry->ObjectData,
            (int)Entry->ZoneNumber,
            Entry->ParentIndex);

I laid it down, set the main gear, then kept changing the heading to find the column that reflected that change. I figured one of the unused two column next to it would hold the pitch control. Set both to 20 to see what would happen. Wayyyy too much input.

Is there any other way than making the change in the oba file, saving that, then exiting the TE, then re-opening to see the incremental changes to get the pitch correct? I tried saving the oba file, then opening that b17's object gui and hitting apply. The saved change in the oba file seems to only be picked up when a new TE session is started.

Thank you, now I know to call it roll, pitch, yaw.

I hope 0.1400 is really close to the pitch for other tail draggers, or this will be an all nighter fiddling with every plane in the roster to set them up for a family album photo op.

Thanks for doing this Bustr.  I can't get over how the B-29 DWARFS the B-24.

Can you imagine being a Japanese interceptor pilot in a Ki.61 or J2M5 and trying to fight one of those beasts?  Or a formation of them?

Today I visit all the fighters to adjust their pitch. You can see they are all set level to the ground in the screen capture below. Then I create a vehicle and tank inspection lineup back of the bombers. When this is tweeked, and Hitech says Beta8 has a fix for something, I will make the terrain available in the open beta forum for anyone who wants to create films and photo ops to help out Hitech Creations. Then I'm getting those FPS gobbling objects off my terrain.

Hmmm, note to self, SELF the C47 tail wheel is 2ft off the ground..... :bhead

Will/are the WW1 planes included in the lineup?, I can't tell from the picture

Btw buster I have also been wanting to add an Alt above ground flag for the TE , so the y value would be distance above terrain.

Since I figured out how to use your TE, I was convinced "y" was alt above ground.

Sorry, got burnt out getting all the WW2 rides tweeked onto the ground. If Hitech wants them in there, I will update the Photo Op terrain I posted in the Open Beta forum. Hitech was kind enough to give me a list of the pitch settings for each ride. Some didn't work as expected. I had to still tweek about 60% of the aircraft and all of the vehicles.

Still driving down the lineups is an impressive view.
