Title: Tom Clancy's The Division
Post by: branch37 on February 27, 2016, 08:02:56 PM
Release date is March 8.  Anybody going to be playing this?  It looks very arcade compared to past Tom Clancy titles, but I'm still going to give it a try.

I am, played the PC beta and liked what I saw.  The closest thing that The Division can be compared to is Destiny.

I'm all set and ready. Can't wait. Loved the beta.
The Arcadey nature is because it's set as an RPG.

The graphics, detail and play-ability look great ... but ... yet another post-apocalyptic 'the U.S. has become another Syria' environment. Just another quasi-prophetic (perhaps wishful thinking for some) dark world playground. :(

Not so much. A WWII combat first person shooter has an element of understanding the reality of what happened, historically, and appreciating the sacrifice and hardship. A near future apocalyptic destruction of the United States is a setting that nobody (at least nobody in the U.S.) should really want to see come to pass. While most (perhaps) don't let such fictional settings temper their mindset, regarding the future as they see it, I'm of the mind that more than a few do. There's a dark element of the entertainment industry (Movies, T.V., Games) that is bent on such a theme (and yes, it sells - but even that tends to be worrisome to a point).

Um, needless to say (I hope) - this is my take on such.  :bolt:

I don't believe it's that we want to see these scenarios come to pass, they're just something to think about.  And yes they can be entertaining.

On another note, rumors are flying that Battlefield 5 could be a return to WW2 shooters or possibly even WW1.  Now think of the graphic story you could tell of Verdun of the Somme with modern game engines

There's a pretty decent WW1 online shooter called "Verdun".

It looks like my last recording of Naval Action will still be uploading when TCTD unlocks. Clearly I need a faster Internet.

Plenty of bugs in the game still. The game will use my Xbox controller, but also sees the other CH controllers and wants to use them first. I do not see a way to deactivate them without unplugging them.

AND Uplay sucks. I have to say that as often as I mention that I hate Windows 10.

Create a blank template in Control Manager and before you play The Division, load the blank template to your joysticks and the game will no longer see the CH controllers.

Some of the games I play have the same problem you're experiencing and loading a blank template to my CH controllers removes the joysticks from the ControllerID list in Windows.

Wish I thought of that. :aok

Anyone still playing this?  If so, I'm looking for a group to team up with.  All my buddies play on console.  :bhead

I was going to start playing it but a big streamer I watch said he doesn't play PC anymore because the game was already dieing....this true??? The game looks fun but I don't want to waste money

It's a great game until you hit the level cap, then it becomes a waste of time. It's a shame it's not a more like a traditional tactical TC game. If it was, it would be a hit. Thankfully the players are leaving it and are more likely to be on Squad  :D
