So, I downloaded the beta test, but still can't get my system over 21 FPS. (this is with everything dialed down) Not sure how to tweak graphics settings as they're limited. (turning off anti-alias, shadow bumps etc. I'm running a I7 Intel, 6GB SDRAM, 2 SLI NVidia cards, Triple head to go drivers, SSD etc...so not sure how to proceed, but figured I'd let you know.
For myself, even with a pretty hefty rig, low FPS is a real show stopper.

I think it is Chalenge who has some constructive advice about SLI. Try running the beta with only a single card and see what your FPS is.
-
SDRAM?? what spec are the SLI cards??
turn your environment mapping slider to 0 and re-test. this setting hogs the most by far.
-
What flavour of Nvidia cards are they?
-
I made this suggestion once before, default environment map slider should be none.
Remove the slider, or grey bar disable it for testing.
For those who wish to increase it during beta, allow them to edit the world.cfg file...
(admit I didn't know about world.cfg before before patch 14 but same idea)
I believe you will find less complaints..... :bolt:
Viper,
I believe by now you have heard numerous times about GPU requirements to run AH Beta and eventually AHIII. This information in the form of dxdiag.txt will greatly help to identify the cause of your framerate issue.
One thing that might interest you, SLI video cards do not multiply your dedicated memory (not totally geek enough to explain why). So, whatever the dedicated memory is of one card, that will be the memory amount needed to meet AH Beta requirements.
Challenge also, gave important information, on how to enable them and even how to ensure they are enabled. If you have not created a profile for AH Beta, then I doubt SLI is enabled for Beta.
The quick method to see if it is, look at the top of the splash screen when you first load up Beta (before you click on anything). The top left text states patch version, resolution, and will say SLI if it is active.
As for dxdiag.txt .... follow directions as per Skuzzy below.
Here are the steps to do this:
1. Go to "Start" from the Windows desktop
2. Select "Run" from the pop up menu
3. In the Run dialog box, type DXDIAG and press <ENTER>
4. After a few seconds the DXDIAG utility will be ready (the progress indicator in the lower left corner will disappear).
5. Run the video and sound diagnostics (Select the Display and Sound tabs to do this).
6. Press the "Save All Information" button
7. This will save the DXDIAG data to a file of your choice
Step 8~ I (ChiLLi) am editing (original post was for email)
8. Once you have done this, simply attach the file to a post for us to look for any issues your system might have.

I'm still having the same problem with fps :bhead
One beta release I get 15-28 fps the other I get a rock solid 60 fps
In AH II I've been getting 200-300 fps (don't understand this... seems high)
Running a NVidia gtx 670 and according to Skuzzy it should be fine!
This may seem like a stupid question but do the connectors on the card have effect
on the fps? :headscratch:

Are you running with defaults? I would expect around 30 to 60 with defaults, depending on the surroundings.
-
Hiya Skuzzy... went back into Beta and now I'm getting 60-65 fps.
I did reset the to the default graphic settings. I will not change from
the default settings and see if my fps returns to 14-21 fps.
I did try turning vsync on and off but the fps was still 60-65

Chilli, here's my DXDIAG. My FR drops no matter the settings. Thanks, HiVolt

Apparently it takes some time for someone ask the obvious. Thanks, Chilli, I never would have thought of that: What are your video card settings? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,378288.msg5039640.html#msg5039640)
Having image quality enhancers enabled both in the video card's control panel and in the game sounds like issues to me.

It absolutely is. Everything should be set to allow the application to control it.

What frame rates are you getting using default settings in the Beta 15 release? For the purposes of testing, disable vertical sync in the game "Video Settings".

pagefile used is nearly 3 GB's ( could be due to you having had your PC on awhile and was surfing the net, or had other programs open, I always post a DXDIAG report from a fresh boot )
looks like you are using 2 ( maybe 3 ) different audio controllers : Realtek, Nvidia, Samsung

Here is my dxdiag output. I'm not going to try and read into the root cause.
Appreciate the feedback.

Thanks for the dxdiag.txt :salute It however shows about what I may have expected.
This SHOULD NOT be a game stopper in your case:

Display Devices
---------------
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti
Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Chip type: NVxx
DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC
Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1244&SUBSYS_089C196E&REV_A1
Display Memory: 3788 MB
Dedicated Memory: 977 MB
Shared Memory: 2811 MB
Current Mode: 5760 x 1080 (32 bit) (60Hz)
I guarantee, if you reduce the screen resolution from 5760 x 1080 (are you running 3 monitors) to anything close to 1368 x 768 your framerate will drastically improve.
I have run 2 SLI cards w/ 977 MB dedicated memory each and you still get 977 MB of dedicated memory, but maybe a 15 per cent boost in the frame rates, however you MUST tell Beta to use them both in a profile, where you should also set all settings to application settings, especially the vsync. Look at the top of the splash screen when you first load up Beta (before you click on anything). The top left text states patch version, resolution, and will say SLI if it is active.
Dual SLI Nvidia GTX 550Ti are nothing to sneeze at (and I bet they cost a pretty penny), sadly it is nowhere near the performance of a single card a couple of series and couple of generations above GTX 970. That seems to be where folks are reporting the ability run everything turned up. Even some of those have difficulty with environment map set to anything other than none.
I sincerely hope this is helpful, and gives you areas to tweak to get some great results, as I can confirm my GTX 465 worked great with some smart settings.

GTX 550 Ti
GDDR5 - 1G
Data Paths - 192bit
Band Width - 98.5 Gbyte\sec.
Shaders - 192
Unless Hitech does a bit more tweeking, your FPS is about where it should be. I tested from august 2014 until December 2015 using a single card with the following specs in 4096 mode default graphics settings getting between 20-60 fps depending on what was around me. It looks like your unified shaders might be low. The minimum spec video card for the game is a GTX 9800 which has 128 shaders and has to be used in 512 mode getting barely playable FPS. Once Hitech moves the beta to DX11, I suspect the 9800 will no longer be the minimum card spec since it's a DX10 compliant card.

Two things.
1) DirectX is only seeing one video card, but that would only cause about a 10% to 15% loss in performance.
2) You do not have the native sound card drivers installed in the computer. That will hurt performance and can causes stability issues.
Graphics performance wise. An NVidia 550 card is an older middle of the road performer. You are not going to get really good performance out of it in AH3, especially if you are pushing 3 monitors. Even an NVidia 970 would struggle at that resolution, with all the graphics options enabled.

AH2 80+FPS solid. AH3 marginal 31fps with +/- 4 variance
And with that I want the water to be basic (no deep blues, no water reflections) turned on by default unless i'm skirting low or in a gv). It would be fantastic to control that environment of water and water reflections again.. Because it's really only applicable to low level flying or gv'ing. Up high. it wastes FPS.
Also, the brightness contrast of trees to the shadows are way too high in the HDR range. It's hurting on the eyes the fakeness of the trees. They are exagerated in their Brightness/Contrast ratio of HRD range. Need to soften it out.
Also, the terrain stutters. Need to work on that....
All the 'goodies' willl turn away players who dont have a system that handles at least AH2 above 60fpg (my AH2 is solid 80fps), which revert to stuttery ground effects.
Audio side note: Lastly, P51 start-up, we need that hard puff puff start up, not that smooth start up audio file that is in default.

How do I configure beta to use the SLI configuration? I don't see it enabled on the splash, but the NVIDA configuration says it's "enabled"...
-
Have you got everything set as suggested in this video?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96I3A88F_II
EDIT: Even in SLI two 550s aren't going to make much difference I think, but please try it anyway.

SEViper,
Are you rendering 3 monitors? [ ][ ][ ]

I made this suggestion once before, default environment map slider should be none.
This, I think, is a great suggestion.
