Did HTC change service providers?

Latest ping plot had more hops to server, different provider name last hop, and more importantly, the path to server has a lot more irregularities and latency.

just wondering.

I believe HTC used to use Verizon.  Frontier recently purchased DSL and FIOS (and phone) lines from Verizon in several places, possibly including Texas,  and I believe the switch went live April 1.  So maybe that is the reason?

715 nailed it.  Verizon is getting out of the land line business and going only mobile.  They are selling off those assets.  Texas, California and a couple of other states were the first and largest of their network.

They appear to be selling it off to smaller ISP's who have no stake in the mobile market.

I hope Frontier is much better on the commercial level because they are so bad around here on the residential level they make soup cans and a couple cans of string more attractive.

Ty for info.
Verizon has been forcing mobile for sure. Shame the government will not force them to payback all those gifts they got supposedly not spreading fios.
