I think I may have seen evidence that the lighting in AH3 might be set too bright. Yesterday I was chasing a group of bombers into the sun and had climbed up to their altitude about the clouds (maybe 15K or so). We were all above the clouds and headed into the sun. When I looked behind me and down at the clouds, I the cloud deck was just whited-out. I could only see very bright white with no cloud detail visible. I can't say for sure whether that is realistic or not.
I have also noticed something similar in some skins I have been updating for AH3 - their colors can be so bright and intense, I'm thinking about de-saturating and fading them to tone them down. Not a big deal and easy to do, but when I saw the cloud deck reflecting so intensely that the detail of the clouds is lost, thought I should mention it in case something really is off with the lighting settings.
Thought I snapped a couple of screenshots of the cloud white-out to illustrate the point but I cant find them in my screenshot folder today.

There is a definite issue with objects in direct sunlight being washed out. I find this especially terrible in terms of skin colors - it applies to all of them. On my skins, my base colors are chosen by their value in direct sunlight, thus in AH3 they're double lightened and look terrible. (Based on my 109E which is the new default)

Remember the .sliders command can be used to bring up sliders on the CBM to turn down the lighting of the terrain, the trees, and standard objects. I don't know, however, if that option is going to make it into the production version of AH3. If it is going to make it to production, then you probably should not try to fix it by toning down your skin art, but just allow the user to chose the lighting level he prefers via .sliders.

Thanks guys,
I agree I should hold off on any changes to skins until after AH3 is in Production.

Do the sliders save though? I thought I read you have to set them each time you re-log into 3? If that's true its not really a permanent solution

No, they do not save, you have to set them each time.
