Title: Magazines that surprisingly exist.
Post by: FLOOB on May 08, 2016, 01:07:44 AM
Ok one rule, no fake magazines, they have to really exist.

I don't get it.

Are you saying that things like "Carp Tales, Tackle, & Tactics" aren't fascinating?

How about O'club topics that shouldn't exist? Carp fishing is a blast, and very challenging. They even have college courses to teach fly fishing for carp.

Your missing out on stamp collecting, cucumber growing, tractor weekly, roundabouts, drain covers, the list is endless.

Indeed!  In another life time I used to flyfish, likely too much. Some time in the early 90's carp became a goto flyfishing target. And it exploded!

I used to catch them by accident as I never targeted them but when fishing for bass I would accidently hook the odd carp. Next thing I knew it was in all the flyfishing books and guides were actually taking fishermen out for carp.

When you hook a 15lb plus fish on a 6 weight rod,you better hang on and be ready for a long fight, sure they dont jump or get all fancy but when they make those 30 yard runs and you recover line with a fly reel, well you tend to feel like you just went 10 rounds with a heavy weight!

Besides they are invasive and need to be culled!

In Australia where the European carp was introduced and now has population exploded into an eco-mess. They will be introducing a fish specific herpes virus to cull them. So does that mean fishermen will have to wear full body prophylactics to fish because of the herpes in the water?

It's not really surprising, all the koala bears have chlamydia ( http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-22207442 ) . It was probably the aussie fisherman that 'introduced' the herpes to the carp in the first place. Can't leave an aussie alone with anything living for more than 5 minutes.

Did you look at the pix of a carp. Yes they are the fat kid, likely why they dont jump either!

I fish for them in rivers so ya a 30 yard run is a long run for most fish,I did catch an Atlantic salmon that almost spooled me but that was unusual as most fish rarely make more than a 20 to 30 yard run before they try to find a spot to hold or snag your line.

I`ve caught a couple 20lb plus carp,I dont like too though as they are hard on my equipment and nothing is worse than breaking a really nice flyrod on a CARP! :furious
