Im not sure what tour it was but I was in game in 2000 if I recall correctly and kept the account open ever since. Please don't ask stuff like this. It reminds me of how fast so many years have gone by. Shamus has been old since the mid 1950's but for me its just starting and its a bit shocking! :old: :D
-
Well pipz at the accelerated rate you are aging you will catch up with me next month :D
-
been back since I rejoined almost 6 years ago
-
Since 2008

Since 1988, campaign 1 of Air Warrior, and then continuing on after demise of Air Warrior into Aces High in 2002. I did have two breaks (1988-1991 and 2000-2002 or so). Since 2004, I've played in every scenario in Aces High except one. Scenarios and This Day in WWII are where I primarily play.

<<== funding HT's liquor cabinet since April '02

Have been here since Beta also. :old:
-
I started in sometime during 2005-2006 in the Main Arena but I was in the head to head arena 2 years prior before joining the Main Arena.
-
Since 2006..... and about 6 sets of joysticks.....
-
Can't say I've never taken a break, but I flew in AW from '97, until it was killed off. I moved over to AH with MDJOE in 2001. The first tour I could find for myself was tour 23.

came in 2006, never left! summer months I play a little less, but I still play.
-
I've taken breaks from playing but have never taken a break from paying my subscription since June, 1996 in Air Warrior then here since Jan 2002 when AW closed.
-
Been here since 2004, Tour 52
Have seen #s increase to a high of 800 or more in one Arena! Titanic Tuesdays were not to be missed. HTC always adding planes, patching, changing game play, Oh the whines were epic. :ahand
Landing more than 10 kills in a sortie was an ordinary occurrence. But all things must change.
Have not taken a break but have reduced playing time due to real life factors.
Will be taking a break in two weeks when AHIII comes out. Game will be unplayable with my current PC setup until I can afford to upgrade Graphics card and other PC items needed.
But as it has been in the past when changes have been made AH becomes a whole new game to learn and fall in lust with again. :joystick:

Did you try it with environment map slider set to "none" and some other things turned down?
I have a sub-$500 system with a $120 graphics card, and it runs AH3 beta at 60 fps, which is what it gets in AH2. I'm not seeing much difference in hardware needs between AH2 and AH3.

I have been trying AH3 and know it is not a finished product yet but I don't I think I would be happy with my current setup because I want to experience the Game as it is meant to be.
I have a good PC but with less than 1G memory Vid card it needs to be upgraded and I'll get to that when I can. HTCs most difficult task will not be creating a great looking Combat game but populating it.
-
I see no difference in quality of graphics between environment map slider set to "none" and higher than none.
When I'm running in AH3, it reports using less than 500 MB video memory on my setup, so I think 1 GB cards might be fine.
I wouldn't stop playing between when AH3 comes out and whenever you get a new graphics card as long as it looks OK and gives you OK frame rate. Graphics still look great. Why not enjoy it if you can while you work on upgrading?
-
Oh you know I'm gunna try. :D
It just feels so different and may take some getting used to.
-
Started in Tour 27 and finally stopped after the first FSO of this year. I play other games and simply grew tired of the volatility. I will attend the Dayton Gatherings as they are held and will try to arrange meet-ups with players when traveling out of town.
-
Only been around since Tour 84
Goat

First played in Tour33. Taken a few breaks. <S> to those who haven't.

To bad you arent allowed to smoke a fatty on the golf course. Would prolly improve your game much better than than ruining it by drinking hahaha.

I wish I could say I never took a break but I had to between 02/03 when I lost my eyesight. IIRC I first started around tour 19/20 something like that, with a different name and I had a few names until about 05.
Since then I havent taken a break, never needed to as the TA is my arena of choice and I can relax and hopefully pass on a little info to help players along.

I played in H2H for years then signed up tour 77. Been here ever since.

Nah I play by sound! Just like the pinball wizard!
Actually Brooke,I had lenses implanted and it improved my eyesight for about a years or so then it has gradually gotten worse. I cant focus,or change focus very quickly it take time for my eyes to adjust and I cant see anything inside about 2 feet,I have to use glasses to read. I had comp glasses made but I found just a bit of movement back or forward and I couldnt see so I opted for a large screen and I sit back about 5 ft from the screen as my distance vision is better than close.
I still have problems with text, the map etc. but it's much better than when I couldnt see, they took my driving privilage away for about a 18 months and that was a huge relief when I got it back. I still dont drive much and rarely at night but I can get by.
Now it I could only find a way to shoot..... Ah life would be good!
:salute
PS: thx for asking!

Hey they have braille on the drive through ATMs. It's there for a reason you know. :)
-
Actually Brooke,
Man! I'm sorry to hear of those vision problems but very, very glad to know that things are better than they were. My best regards to you, Morfiend, and my sincere hope is that, as medical technology makes great advances (which it is continuing to do), there will be solutions for you as well.

:rofl :rofl :rofl
But.. but I'd have to learn braille, wouldnt I???? :devil
Brooke, I had lenses implanted, not much more cant be done at this time. I suppose I could get new corrected lenses implanted but I'd need a bifocal lense and I'm not sure that can be done.
My last visit the doc urged me to get bifocal glasses so I would only need a single pair but I'm waiting since I notice my eyes are still changing. Soon though I will have no option as my distance vision is starting to go also.
It's a good excuse to use on SWMBO when I want a new and even larger display.....Hmmm looks like a 70 in display is in my future......... :devil Ya that's the ticket,Dear I cant see the screen anymore! ;)
who knows what the future might bring, bionic eyes.....sweet!
