When carring supplies, why is it the C-47 is limited to the same payload as the M3? I would think it should be able to carry a few more supply packs than the back end of a half-track.
-
I agree, especially since a C47 is more risky to roll also.
-
Gameplay I imagine. Plus overloading an M3 wouldn't be as dangerous as overloading a Goon.
Vehicle supplies are kinda gamey IMO. There should be at least a 30 second timer to actually fix the vehicle one you soak them up (much like the rearm pad). Not fun to strafe a Wirb/M-16/Ost and have him firing on you again before you can get out of gun range.

6000lbs payload for the C-47, should be not too far from the capacity of the M3.

You can take a yard stick rule from the number of troops needed to capture a field, 10. I believe a long time ago Hitech mentioned that introducing a troop carrier that could carry more than 10 troops would cause him to change the number of troops needed to capture a field to that higher number.
Wanting more complexity in the game is a natural direction to take. Hitech mentioned he complicated something once because players asked for it if I'm remembering correctly. Then found with more complexity players as a majority used simpler processes to achieve their fun.

I had in mind field supplies, not so much troops or vehicle supplies.

You're kinda missing the point. I did the same thing when I had started playing.. I think my argument was that the C47 carried more than 10 troops, so why not have it carry more .. I think 26 was the magic number.. or something like that.. Because it sure would be nice to either have some troops extra in case a few get killed by the defenders, or, better, being able to capture 2 bases in a single run. ( without reloading ) Then HiTech's dictate about having to increase troops to capture if you increased troops being transported sank in.
Don't consider it a historically accurate measurement of resources, as it is more like, it takes x units per player to deliver.
So if a base requires 5 base supplies to restore the strats, it really means 5 players running a supply. Or 1 player running supplies 5 times.. etc.
One of those compromises between reality and what works in the game environment.

I love Blue Bell Rocky Road. WOOT

I do see your point but this is where the game collides with the simulation.
