What is a G-stall? He said he pulled too hard in the turn. Does the heavy g-load cause the plane to stall?

Yes, Accelerated stall. As you pull more G you need more lift therefore higher angle of attack. Regardless of speed once AOA limit is reached the wing stalls.

It is fascinating to think of how professional drivers push their machines to the limit. Sometimes they are so good you forget they are on the edge. nice to see the pilot lived beyond the crash into the water. Like a guy once said "Yeah, but I crash better then Larry."
