Asymmetric scenarios (such as where one side has bombers and the other doesn't) are much more difficult to balance than symmetric ones (where each side has the same number of the same types of aircraft and similar objectives).
In Mediterranean Maelstrom, bombers rarely made it to target, and axis was usually enough out of lives by the end to be heavily outnumbered.
I think that could be easily remedied just by reducing number of fighters on allied side and adding a couple of bombers to the axis side.

it's too bad there isn't a way to do that more on the fly before it gets really ugly without upending everyone in their assigned groups.
I guess walkons like we did is the best that can be done.
