Title: Does anyone Know How To:
Post by: earl1937 on July 16, 2016, 04:28:57 PM
:airplane: How to get rid of the little window that comes up in Windows 7 with this message; "Want to stay on this page" or "Want to leave this page"! Damn thing is driving me nuts, I have never had that happening until a couple of days ago! And no, have not messed with internet options or settings of any kind! I researched it on line, but the remedy didn't work that was suggested!

The only time I've seen that message is if I'm filling out a form, or some entry on that page, without having submitted it.

Is it all pages, or just certain ones?

Are you using Internet Explorer or Firefox or Chrome or.. other?

I'm a Firefox person, for a number of years, but since Win10 came out, it has fits of orneriness that have caused me to switch to MS Edge ( MSIE replacement ) on occasion.

I know a lot of people that use chrome.. I have it, but never used it enough to get comfy.

Sorry, not much of an answer, as far as an opinion goes.

I prefer FireFox, but you have to remove Flash, or it will hang. Flash is so insecure these days, you really should remove it, even if it doesn't cause problems.

It's good practice to have two browsers in any case. If some page doesn't work with your default browser, it may work with the other. Some sites have compatibility issues with some browsers. Two browsers also helps troubleshooting issues like yours: If it only occurs with IE but not with the other, it's a settings/add-ons/malware issue.

While installing another browser, don't let it copy all of your settings from the existing one. Bookmarks are about the only thing I'd copy and even that can be done later.

Earl do you only see it on the Aces High BB? I only see the message when I look at the AH BB on my phone. It's only been the last couple days which is also when the BB would hang loading pages on my PC.

IE is a Model T. Chrome is a Corvette.

Just in case it's something unwanted in your browser, you might want to try AdwCleaner https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/1-adwcleaner/ (https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/1-adwcleaner/) and/or Avast Browser Cleanup https://www.avast.com/en-us/browser-cleanup (https://www.avast.com/en-us/browser-cleanup). They're free and fast.

Whenever I see that, I control/alt/delete and bring up task manager to close all instances of my browser.

That dialog box and the click choices has been exploited by malicious software needing an "OK" to install in the past.
