Title: Controls Freezing
Post by: OhioWing on July 23, 2016, 02:04:24 PM
Read the forums and associated comments. Apparently "controls freezing" isn't across the board. I'm on the Beta generally several times a day. I experience this without exception...every use. Fighters only except Spit....any of them. Sometimes the freeze releases...sometimes it happens during an escape dive....each time it happens it is not during normal routine flying. I have yet to receive the "don't move the controls so rapidly" as others have. Sometimes I can recreate the event immediately...other times I can't. I see no common denominator for this occurrence. But it happens routinely..with confidence...if you dive to escape, especially if you have several aircraft in the active mix...the controls freeze. I have recovered...from a high altitude dive only to determine damage to the aircraft. I never experienced any of this in the other game.

Are you talking about the "javelin" or "grass drill" effect? You dive to escape, get more and more speed and then you just find yourself six feet under no matter what?

If so, it's a feature of some planes more than others. Especially 109's are known to do that - and were in real life, too! Some planes also lose parts in high speed dives. Make a Lancaster dive and you'll hear squead, squeak, crash! and your wings are gone... Cut the throttle, dive in a shallower angle and trim your plane using the button "K" to straighten.

No, Bizman this is a bug that I have experienced first hand.  It occurs out of the blue, but usually when near other players.  It is almost like the resources that connect to your controller are gone.  You could be doing a mild turn, slow dive, or some sort of reversal maneuver and then, without any warning your joystick stops responding and never returns control (like it would if there was a "move stick rapidly" freeze) until the next sortie.

It was fixed for me, a while ago.  Ohiowing, is one who still is having the problem and I recognize the description right away.  Interesting that it affects some players and not others.  The most annoying part, is that it seems to happen mostly when other planes are nearby.  So, dogfighting is not an option..... 90% of the time you end up just augering into the ground with no control.

Oh, OK. It just sounded so familiar to this old 109 pilot.
