Just checking in. Possibly will be getting folks reacquainted with the ol' "meat-grinder" B17 missions. Life has been.. interesting as of late. Missed y'all.
See you soon.

I'm a little rusty, but coincidentally I ran a set of 17's after some base strats on my first run being back, and came close to getting my butt handed to me by a 262 and a 109 at 20K. I got whittled down to one beat up bomber, but managed to smoke the 109 into retreating, and the 262 abruptly left after he got a little close to my chin gun's 10:00 low. Landed a damage score that looked like I only bombed a Volvo. :azn: Nice to know I can still survive, at least. :bolt:

I am in same boat as well. Just downloaded the beta and looking forward to bomb trucking again. However, I do prefer the b24. Maybe we will meet someday, either wing to wing or barrel to barrel.

Yeah, people like the 24's for the bomb load, but I prefer durability and survivability. Always partial to the 17's and 26's. Occasionally I'll take a set of Ki67's out for their speed.

Holy crap Thndr! Was just talking to Hadji last week about the old 91st days. They still have some remaining members in the group, I've been freelance since my play time is pretty sporadic. Winging up with the Ragged Irregulars were some of the funnest times I've ever had in the MA. Just tell me the launch rally, I'll be ready. Will likely check in with y'all tomorrow night.

LOL.. <RD>, shotgun.. I remember someone asked me what that meant, so I posted a pic out of a history book on the 91st, and Skuzzy canned the pic & slapped a rule at me.
Suppose we oughtta get those "Triangle 'A' birds out of the hangar, eh? ;)

If every bomber bomber pilot flew B26's in bigger formations, you did never ever need a fighter cover, seem to take about twice the damage of a B-17's for some reason.
I know quite a few that just don't attack them due to their durability and lethality.

Yeah, true. I use them almost exclusively to level-bomb ships. In formations they are indeed formidable. Still, for the sake of the immersion and experience, I usually invite escorts to join in on formation runs in whatever they like. Sometimes it's pretty free form, other times there are outright fighter groups that we coordinate with and we still get a lot of action out of it. Occasionally bad guys breaks through and give us something to shoot at. :)
