The prequel is almost 40 years old.

Aliens is my all time favorite.   The only movie I ever saw three times in the theater.

"Lieutenant, what do those pulse rifles fire?"
- "Ten millimeter exploding tip, caseless ... standard light armor piercing round, why?"

"Well, look where your team is. They're right under the primary heat exchangers".

"So, so what?!"

Great film, one of the best Cameron has made IMO, although it's tough to pick from about 5 of his many great works.  I could recite it verbatim after watching it dozens if not hundreds of times.

I remember playing the Commodore 64 Aliens game for hours while simultaneously watching the film on VHS on our 32" TV, which was gigantic back then.

Anyone one else have the experience of first seeing the "director's" cut on TV?  It was on late night in 1990 IIRC, and I'm watching it in the background while into something else at the time, probably early PC gaming, when I hear this talk about robot sentry guns.  WTF?!  Instant attention.  The entirety of the robot sentry sequences never made the release/theatrical cut?!  Wow, talk about a bad decision.  Those were fantastic, as was the rest of the unseen footage in the director's cut, much of it prior to the sentry guns, such as Hudson's great speech on the drop ship.

I became a legal alien in 1979 too.

Love the turret guns.   :aok

Two-and-a-half hours is a long time for one sitting even today. Back in the '80s it was unacceptable. The robot sentries scenes were awesome, but they didn't move the story forward in any real way, and thus they were expendable. Love them too though, and I haven't watched any other cut than the director's since I first saw it back in the '90s. I've
watched his film several dozen times over the years.
