Title: First Motorcycle
Post by: Kanth on July 31, 2016, 10:37:46 AM
Just finished updating my motorcycle. I got it about this time last year and I wanted to customize it to suit me. I just finished it up this morning. It's a Honda vt750 spirit (it's my first bike) Also Nefarious made me some sweet custom decals (focke-wulf logo) to put on the sides just below the seat. :D
Here's the before rear: (http://www.baileyarabians.com/AH/wurger/before_rear.jpg)
before side: (http://www.baileyarabians.com/AH/wurger/before_side.jpg)
After rear: (http://www.baileyarabians.com/AH/wurger/after_rear.jpg)

I painted it based on the Planes of Fame Flugwerks 190 A8 (JG4 white 14) here:
I had to hack saw off some parts of the frame for the custom seat and rear fender, and saw off the rear foot pegs which were welded on. I also rewired the lights (everything but the headlight) and painted the body parts. I used the kit from blue collar bobbers. Still thinking of getting some white walls but maybe that's in the future. I've never done anything like this, I'm really happy with the results.

Pretty cool. Maybe you could make the front wheel look like the 190 prop hub for that spiral effect.

I was trying to figure out a way to add that to the front somewhere because it's so iconic. I like that idea.

Find a front wheel to the Shadow Sabre ( VT1100, I think )
Paint it..
This was my 2nd bike.. sold it to buy fancy camera lenses...

Maybe something kinda like this ( sorry for sloppy PS job.. kinda in a rush )

If the holes don't turn you on, try a HD Fatboy front wheel. It's solid.
Nice ride, Kanth!

I hear you on the camera lenses, they are very expensive. I'll have to shop around and see what I can find for the front tire.

WOW,
That is very cool.
I saw an R1100 BMW that was set up similar but with yellow and his plate read "V-1 RKT"

Great lookin bike Kanth, did you do the paint? Elvis

Thanks, Elvis.
Yep, I used the Dupli-Color spray paint cans you get at the automotive store. I purchased a spray gun but never had to use it. The paint cans have a tip on them that fans out the spray like you would get from a spray gun and it ends up covering much better than you'd think from a can.
I learned that you never EVER want to spray your clear coat in high humidity. It doesn't come out clear, it'll come out milky looking and ruin the paint job. Learned that one the hard way. I think it was about 70% humidity out and it sprayed on clear and then started to look sorta flat and then horrible. Had to re-do.

Kanth, that is about the baddest bike I've ever seen: I like the minimalist look; some people just go too far trying to look awesome, but you nailed this one. Great job. :aok

Zoney, I have the flat black half helmet but not the face piece. I have full and full/modular helmets with coms and stuff which would probably be better. Looks interesting though.
