Title: Thanks for the Beatdown STARFOX
Post by: Vraciu on August 01, 2016, 09:49:46 AM
Another day in the DA.  Another session of having my head handed to me on a platter.

Thanks, StarFox.  Was fun.   <S>

You got to play against 2 good sticks with 2 different styles in as many days. I'll bet you felt like a ninja cutting through people in the MA afterwards lol.

Let's just say that I saw some WELL-ABOVE average skills with those two guys.   And SF says he is "rusty".  Holy Toledo!

Lol

You got me in the MA the other day in your oiled Hawg.   You did some sort of Cobra maneuver and went from nose down to nose in my face.  Pop!  Pop!  PK.

that was literally my first sortie in 3 months too, I remember the kill. I was wounded from an 2v1. I'll have to check film to see what I actually did to get you. I'll explain when the film is reviewed Thursday night :)

I don't know if StarFox and skyyr are the same, I've only seen the rumors posted and heard it over local/range vox in the game.....

I did have a chance to fight StarFox in the last Friday KOTH, and noticed that their flying abilities are closely similar...

But alot of players are like that...

Vraciu, Glad you are enjoying the DA and finding what other things it, when working with certain people, has to offer

Cheers

Only thing I noticed that was similar was the old shut the engine off trick, which promptly got him killed. :rofl

When I ran into StarFox AKA skyyr yesterday I knew it was skyyr and I had not heard any rumors.  The 190 and a P-38 are a good match up for a fun fight.  No doubt.

Was skyyr banishment suppose to be permanent?  i can't remember if the rumors suggested that that it was a cheating offense or just bad manors.

I would be careful with this. I've fought against the avatar StarFox and I think at the minimum two different people with similar skill sets are using the account. One skill set never misses with the no tracers HO like skyyr was famous for. The other has tracers on and uses much more killing the engine to facilitate over shoots and semi hammer heads to turn on a dime.

This could be someone familiar enough with the skyyr style early version when he killed the engine as his primary maneuver, and later when he never missed the HO. We may be getting trolled by a very talented vet or vets. If it is skyyr, my hat is off to him controlling his signature responding on 200 and here in the forums to any perceived slight or criticism.

Some of his very short one liners on 200 to people remind me of a vet we have not seen for awhile. I suppose there will be someone who actually knows who StarFox is.

Our StarFox reminds me of skyyr but the character from the Marvel universe named StarFox or Eros has a brother Thanos who reminds me much more of how skyyr played our game. Makes me think we are being royally trolled.

I have fought him three times in the MA. Twice it was very Skyyr-like with the one ping 30mm kill shot at D800 yesterday.  My second encounter he never knew I was there and I blasted him (very un-Skyyr like).   Forgot the first encounter but it was also buzzsaw-like accuracy from an LA-7.

In the DA last night he could not miss.  Great energy management.   Brilliant flying as far as I am concerned.

Your mileage may vary.

Considering that he would be banned again if he let it be known he was skyyr is enough incentive for StarFox to stay mum on the radio channels.

The way it works now, your engine cuts off and restarts immediately. It instantly removes all torque effects from your aircraft, making hammerheads and other difficult opposite torque maneuvers easy to do. You can also do some crazy slow speed maneuvers if you cut the engine off then restart it with full power going. In the new version of AH your engine takes a few seconds to restart mid air, so this will be less effective.

I have died to him twice, killed him once.  So much for that theory.  DERP.

As for your pathetic Spit V, so what?  After I shattered your canopy you kept making very feeble attempts to hit me.   I saw you there the whole time flailing around.   Yawn.  I was more intent on killing the guy in front of me and was willing to give you a free shot to do so.  MEH!   That you had to brag about killing me on 200 shows what an accomplishment (rare!) that was for you.  Congrats.  Keep it up. Someday you'll be in my class.    :aok

when your main aim is to rinse all energy out of your opponent, rope them right up into a stall and you go to far and spin.  Having the engine off eliminates the torque and can allow the player to get the plane nose down and under control marginally quicker.  Basically it's a bit of a gimmick rather than take the time to learn the intricacies of the flight / stall model and not put yourself in that position in the first place.

Some people think that it helps lessen the torque in a slow turn fight, but in reality turning off your engine during any point in a fight is stupid.

In the new version of AH your engine takes a few seconds to restart mid air, so this will be less effective.

It's also like that now, there is a small delay in starting up your engine compared to how it was about 12-13 years ago.  The small delay was put in as an answer to players turning off/on their engine to supposedly make them slow down faster to turn better.  If anyone remembers hblair would understand.

Seems a lot easier to do a hammerhead if you cut the engine, unsure if it's doing any good though.

Guys guys.... it's better and easier to just cut throttle all the way and roll over, than to turn the engine off, and then wait till you regain the power. Turning off your engine can be fatal agaisnt players who know how to utilize their E better.

As for Starfox. He flies similar and has the same style as skyyr, but that's not saying much  ;)

Shouldn't the lack of thrust make the plane wallow, instead of improving maneuverability?

Late War Tour 198
StarFox killed by a
Mosquito Mk VI by player name
Killer Player Name   Killed   Percent
Babalon   3   30.000
Blauv   2   20.000
Razor   1   10.000
UrSelf   2   20.000
    10 Kills

He is very good at milking an overshoot. I heard him killing his engine, but tbh it was not uncommon in the old days for players without throttles.

The flipside of torque is good players will know how to use it. There used to be a couple of hawg pile-its that could really take advantage of torque to spin F4U's around.

Also wasn't uncommon in the old days to dump all MG ammo on takeoff to make that fat bird skinny, or at least so the theory was. I liked it more for the fact that I knew I was landing only cannon rounds heh.

Well, the engine off trick works.

I tested it in my Pony.   Full flaps in the horn.  Steep right turn.  Idle power.   Killed the engine and the airplane lurched.   Turned it on and it lurched back.  So the torque is definitely there.

Oh this most certainly is Skyyr. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind, and I have about 15 years of a 'relationship' with this person from which to draw.

Let's keep in mind we're dealing with a highly obsessive personality here, who has gone to great lengths to be able to play AH again and avoid detection, not the least of which is ditching / crashing planes and wasting ammo to present misleading statistics.

I'm only surprised that he didn't buy some type of voice modulator then he could vox again...

My problem with this whole thing is that despite his apparent improved behaviour on ch200, he's still a griefer, still using the same old "tricks" to try to hunt people into annoyance. In an of itself that's par for the course, but when you combine it with the fact that he's a proven cheater (and liar), having been permanently banned from at least 2 games that I know of, I don't agree with the sentiment of letting him be, as some have suggested.

I suppose the only solution here is to wait until he screws up (again), then has to go through the whole circumvention process (again).

At least we don't have to put up with his look-at-me threads any more, until he becomes more emboldened.

If he were banned then he wouldn't be here, IMHO.

Dale wouldn't stand for it.

Your assuming that there is no way around bans. The majority of games have ways around bans in some form or fashion. Some are just much more difficult than others. Now a days its pretty much impossible to completely ban someone without effecting everyone else in some kind of way.

I think HiTech is a bit more savvy than that.

You underestimate Skyyr's obsessive behaviour. You should know better.

Well, most crooks/criminals/serial killers/etc. eventually get caught.

This has gone off the rails.
