New version up (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,380685.0.html)!
Please use this thread to post errors/issues with the Patch 38 DX9 version of the Aces High III Beta. Thank you.

NICE!!! A new map...pretty sure no one was tired of the first one :aok No problems as of yet, but do have a question. No clouds? I was hoping that the cloud effects would be universal, they really added a sense of realness.

The below was sent by Email with a DxDiag file attached. I could not get it attached in the forum. I was in the DX9 version when this happened.
On 11 August, while at V67 I selected a 17 pounder on the south east portion of the field. Once there I tried to open the clip board and it would not open. I had to hit the Alt Tab, open up Task Manager and then was able to end the “process”. I did this on a few occasion. While in the Gun, it would rotate, zoom in and fire, but I could not get the clip board to come up.
I did this again on the 12th, today, and the same thing happened. One exception was the 88 mm gun. When I restarted the game after trying the 17 pouunder, I was able to use the 88 mm and bring the clip board up and properly exit the program.
I did try, for about an hour, to get the dxdiag file attached to the message I was going to post in the forum. I was unable to do so.

Were you perchance zoomed in?

Negative. I had zoomed in to get better look at incoming aircraft, and then zoomed out. I was trying to get the clipboard to come up to view radar. Also, I just got out of the DX11 vesion and the same thing happened in the 17 pounder north west on field. I also had an incident about 20 minutes ago at the same Vbase in DX11. In this incident I went into the 88mm not zoomed in. I then hit the clip board key and saw it zoom across the screen from left to right and then out of sight. I was not zoomed in at this time either. I then had to again Task Manager out.

That's how its set up, both this version and AH3. Even in tanks, if you are in the turret view no clip board. The 17lb'er only has turret view thus no clip board. The 88's, 37mm man ack, and wirbs/ osti,s have no actual turret view, so clip board can be seen. Its been like that since I have played.
-
Needs to be tweaked a tiny bit.
-
And the next tiny little thing...
-
and then things became a bit unstable.
I don't remember taking screenshot ahss32 of the IL-2 but there it is. Taken before I selected the different rocket loadout.
At the time I was comparing the 37mm guns on the Yak9t to see if it was the same gun. I randomly selected the uppermost bank of rockets but next selected the Panzer 4-F and after the smoke disabled message, I noticed the loadout tables weren't where they belonged. I took a screen shot, ahss33. After selecting another vehicle and reselecting the Panzer, the loadout tables returned to their normal positions.
Also, I did notice a difference in the diswep files. In the version from last weekend, there are no carriage return between commands, just a space character. Today, there seems to be carriage returns after each command if that makes any difference.

1stpar3, the British 17 pounder is a towed piece and does not have a turret, just like the German 88. While in the German 88 I can use my hat switch to check all my views. This cannot be done in the 17 pounder. It would be nice if we could check our six while in the 17 pounder like you can in the other guns allowing you to search for targets. Even in the tanks, you can fire from the top of the turret, you can also check your views and search for targets.
The problem of the lack of the clip board was solved. I normally have the clip board on the far right on my screen when flying. This position normally places it on the wing so I can keep it in view while flying or driving. This resulted in the clip board being off screen far to the right. I relocated it more to the center or left side and it now comes up while in the 17 pounder.

Yes I was aware of the facts you cited. I was just saying that this was my experience in 17 pounder as well. While the 17 pounder doesn't have a turret, it does use tank style sight system. Thus same result.I know you can shoot trom the top of turret on a tank, just don't see the clip board while in the gunner view. On the other hand, I didn't know that repositioning the clip board lets you see it from 17 pounder. Will that work in a tank, in gunner mode? Gonna have to check up on that one...maybe reduce the size of the clip board? I see it sort of flash when I jump into gunner mode, so maybe resizing it might help.

I can't get the clipboard to come up in the 17 lb either. tried moving the cb around and different sizes but no help. just use .ef to get out but the biggest problem is without the cb you don't know how the gun is oriented. it would also be nice to fix it where you could look around .
in ah2 sometimes the cb comes up but it partially obscured by being to fat to the right and it is not movable because the button to move key is also obscured.

Fleet gun positions still not centered on map.
And please make the ships and text larger, as the print is very small.
-
If you move the view down using F8, there is even a ship completely off the board.
-
Please put the convergence view back to the old view so we can see the skins from the side better.
Still have massive stuttering with everything turned off/minimum/ zero on the env slider, 750ti card. Game unplayable in aircraft.
Thanks for fixing the hanger text visibility with shadows off.
With shadows on, they are massively pixilated, 1" squares (relative estimation in cockpit)
Can the canopy scratches be turned off?
-
I am not hearing shell eject or reloading in the shore battery, or the large cruiser guns.
Also in the Lancaster I hear no engine noise in F3 mode. I have "my engine" sounds turned down to 23%. If I turn them up everything is normal. Turn them down and I lose all sounds. Only been able to do it in Lancs, all other bombers seem normal.
-
When looking at the GUI arena Object settings, two items have disappeared; the Maproom and the VOID objects. We'd like both of these reinstated. Meanwhile, Station remains.
This makes me wonder if our problems with changing settings in the AvA are somehow connected.

I updated the cards driver and stutter went away.

Buckshot, I have the same vid card and I've had no issues at all. I've all the graphics maxed out and keep a constant FR of 60!!!! :salute

Seeing a lot of greenery ( plants and shrubs ) in the O'club. They even move like they are outside in the wind.

We don't keep it up since we found where they stashed the sheep.

I wish! I can't see gauges or tracers. Screw realism if it doesn't look good

Buckshot, why aren't you using DX11? Possibly, you are running background processes and robbing your processing power also.
Yes, the canopy scratches go away when you disable reflections.
I have to see a screenshot of these shadows, and ask what screen resolution you are using.
-
Thanks Chili, I don't know if I'm in 9 or 11. I just click on the icon. I'll try for a screen shot of shadows the next time I'm in ah3

By default the desktop icon will be the DX9 version. You need to make a DX11 shortcut from the main folder. You will find a DX11 .exe in the main folder the game is installed in.

That is another thing I told him in game along with updating the drivers. In game it is harder for anyone to follow along.
I made the DX11 shortcut then pinned it to my bar.

What do you wish to set on those 2 object types?

If you don't reinstate the VOID, is this where I should edit the oba file and clean up some tests I was doing with tank static objects? Or will the TE have an object parsing issue when first loading up my terrain?

Was only hardness to object type that had been disabled, I put map room and void back in today.

You are too kind to us and make this terrain editor too easy. Thank you.

Very strange occurrence that was also seen by another player: we were in tanks defending a town. A set of enemy Lancs (3) flew overhead, dropped on town, and exited. From the direction the Lancs exited a set of only two He111s came over the town. Later the set of 3 Lancs came back, but they had an He111 drone stuck to them, jumping slightly forward/backward (i.e. 4 total planes, one icon). The Lancs were attacked by a friendly fighter (and one or two destroyed). Then the player flying He111s exited over the town, but he now had two He111s and a single Lanc drone attached (i.e. three total planes of two types, one icon). In other words, the two enemy players appeared to have had somehow picked up one of each other's drones due to some bug.

I wonder if there were gunners aboard.

Ok, now that the .sliders command is no more, is there a way to tone down the white-out effect on runways and bunkers on fields? I have tried gamma, post lighting shadows, and nothing seems to help. I always used the .slider settings to counter the over brightness before. I am posting a few examples. Ok in posting these screen shots I noticed something peculiar. In the screenshots the problem is still present but no where near as extreme? In game, when I set gamma at the .6 as in second photo, everything BUT the runways and bunkers where dark. The runway and bunkers(ammo) were actually brighter. Not sure why this is? I am sure its a video card type thing, but how would I set it up too look in game- the way it does in screen shots? The screenshots look a lot crisper and balanced as compared to what I am seeing in game. I have adjusted the monitor settings to get close enough to what I like, but screen shots are exactly what I am trying to get. Any Ideas?

Don't know if this is a bug or intentional but I was piloted wounded while flying an IL2 and didn't know it until I blacked out. No blood on the canopy. My engine was hit too and there was oil on the canopy. I don't think there was the gasp of pain either but I'm not as sure about that.
Tracers from tanks shelling the town don't show. I guess it's realistic but it sure makes them hard to locate. Is it intentional or just my graphics capability?
I was pleasantly surprised that I had frame rates in the low 30s to mid 40s at default settings with my Radeon HD 6950. That's a first in all the patches.

Have you ever adjusted your monitor to show every shade of grey? Some hints and tools here: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/5-online-tools-calibrate-monitor/ (http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/5-online-tools-calibrate-monitor/)

there is a glitch with game and not being able to capture airfields. We attacked 31,25,50 too the towns down until white flagged all guns where down and dropped three sets of troops in map room and fields did not take.
we also guarded map rooms so friendly troops could not be dropped and locked for the 30 minutes so that was not an issue. 31 and 25 are nit fields and 50 is a rook field.

I hesitated to post this "bug" because it is very complicated to describe and may certainly be unique to resource limitations of my WinXP 32bit system, but one aspect convinced me to proceed.
It involves tree rendering, specifically the palms of SFMA. My system is E8400 @ 3GHz, HD7870 2GB, WinXP 32bit, 8GB RAM (of which XP only sees <4GB), 2048 or 4096 textures make no difference. CM view at <1K alt. Tree Detail set to 18%. As I increase Detail Range from 0.5 mi to 1.5 mi everything behaves normally, i.e. more and more trees fade into view at an increasing radius from my location. However, from 1.5 mi to 3 mi something weird happens: more trees fade into view properly at further radii, but many of the close in trees suddenly disappear. This only happens to the palm trees in the group of eight. It does not happen to non-palm trees or the group of three palm trees. Test 2: Ground Range at 3 mi and Tree Detail gradually increased from 18% towards 100%. At some point the missing local trees pop back into view.
Normally I would say it is some kind of resource limitation, i.e. my 32 bit system can't handle so many polygons. However, the fact that it only happens to the group of eight palm trees, and that the trees pop back into view when I increase Tree Detail (effectively adding even more polygons) suggests to me that maybe there's an outside chance it is a LOD issue with those trees?

49vman switched sides and is going to all our bases and deacking the fields, ripping vh and hangers down and towns now I see what rvflyer was talking about when he crabbed about the time friendly was killing own tanks on field when trying to defend.

BUSTR!!!!! You are my hero!!! Still working with it but that was the problem, THANK YOU
