No problems on the DX11 patch as of yet, either. Same question though... no clouds with new terrain? :embarrassed:

The rice paddies and palm forests look nice.

Shadows have an abrupt edge in the lower part of the shadow.

I noticed the same thing. Even my old Dell laptop can play Beta with 50+fps. True, the clouds may kill the fps on laptop BUT still miss the clouds. I know, some folk just cant be satisfied :neener:

I hadn't noticed a shock wave from bombs.  Where and how did you observe it?

I'll miss fighting in the clouds. Was a nice touch but I understand making it usable for the masses.

I've liked the report you get back from a 88 or a tank when the round goes off in the distance. Well that and many other nice additions.

Blade.. I thought it was just me but I now see it is not. With mine not only is the plane reflecting like that but the entire sky in the direction of the sun is a white out. Offline runs fine online is when this happens. Adjusting the gamma has no effect on the look. This did not happen with the last version I ran online which was 34. With the entire sky in the direction of the Sun being a bright white makes it very annoying.

Using default graphics settings with a solid 59 FR.

Same problem still on cockpit frame shadows.  They are very saw tooth looking. 

Graphics colors and object borders continue to be cartoon like. 

Cockpit gauges still fuzzy even at a fov of 93. 

Cannot see P-38 trim indicator as reported in previous patches.

What is your gamma in the game set at?  After they removed the .sliders command, I rolled my gamma back with this patch. 

There will be a shiny effect on all skins that do not have that new layer added to it's res file.  As long as your gamma isn't overexposed, it works pretty much like a lacquer coat on those that were not done by the skinner.

I bumped my screen resolution up and it took care of these issues I believe.  Here is what 1920 x 1080 looks like (unzoomed):

landed in a boston III with one engine out. could not shut it down with the "E" button. had to do shift-2 to pick that engine then shut it down.
used cntrl E to synchronize engine start and then hit E. engine starts. then hit it again to shut down. did not work. don't know if this is a bug or not.

     I was dropping bombs on a town from lancs at about 6k and watching though bomb site. Very nice effect.

Maybe! I didn't have that happen. Trackir wont work unless you have it turned on before you start the game. Pretty sure you know this but was only thing I know off that would cause tthat to happen. I you didn't know it...Your welcome!!!

I think this bug is a hold over from ah2.  It happens on the P-38 as well.  There seems to be a particular sequence of things that makes it happen but I could never pin it down so I could report it.

Recording Film and avaeto.

The moment the film recorder starts when on-line in avaeto, the game crashes. In Dx9, you see the error message box but in Dx11, everything freezes until you ctrl+alt+del. Some of our players were using the auto record function and their prgm crashed as soon as they took to the field.

I have no problem in off-line recording.

As far as I know, avaeto is the only terrain with custom objects and textures on the server at this time, so I have no other terrain to test against.

In the Supperfly Testing MA and offline with Dx9 & 11, the Film recorder works with avaeto.

Server lockup:

When we were doing some testing a few months ago, we uploaded a renamed version of avaeto with the name avalibya anticipating finishing Libya at a later date.

When avalibya is loaded into the AvA arena, the server won't download avalibya to anyone else and that requires me to swap the terrains since no one else has a copy on their hard drive and can't get back in to change it.

I'll be replacing it with another place holder sometime mid-week next week to stop the problem unless you want me to leave it up for your review.

Devil5O5 had a problem launching in the AVA on Saturday night. Everytime he launched a plane, he would Crash To Desktop.

it wasn't until someone suggested he shut off "auto Film Sortie" that the problem stopped.

this was happening to another player also, and that fixed his problem.

I encountered a strange shadow glitch while MA just now.  The shadow runs from my A6M3!  :devil  Also my FPS... :(  Take into account, I have everything maxed: Pre-game resolution is 1920x1080 and textures at 4096. In-game, sliders at max (environment slider as well) with everything enabled.  This is DX11.

This next one is the funny one though.  Here, I have 60 FPS both in chase and, while I didn't take a screenie, in cockpit as well (switched to chase and took screenie).

I also get 29-30 FPS while sitting in hanger.  Oddly enough, when I tab out then back in, for a moment my FPS reads 55-60 for a moment before dropping back to 29-30.

EDIT: Also in the first screenshot, the shadow has a jagged/sawtooth appearance now.  I recall it being smoother previous patch.

Encountered two more things just now (both DX11 shots):

TBM has a shadow glitch along wing root and tail.  Makes it look like there is a gap.

When I tabbed back in, engine sound no longer plays.  Ending sortie and reupping fixed engine sound issue though.

And yes, I landed a TBM then drove into town with her. :D

There is still a gap between the shadow and the object casting it - I noticed this looking at the underside of the P-38's wing/boom intersection.  IIRC Hitech is aware of problem but hadn't decided how to code the solution yet.  I bring it up just in case it might've gotten overlooked.

Each time I log on I resume downloading P-51D skin 8, then I get 27,28,and 29. I confirm they are on the HD. The next time I log on they are gone and start downloading again. After they are downloaded the other aircraft skins resume downloading where they left off last time. This is with both versions DX9 and DX11. They don't disappear until I enter an arena, it happens with auto download on and off.

AvA Events Arena/DX11

Upped a Boston III went and bombed an enemy port, couold not access the Bombardier (F6) position, sohad to dive bomb port.

Then upped a formation of B-26B's, noticed that the Ammo/Ords count indicator was flashing, no change to any graphics setting altered the flashing. Also as in the Boston III, could not access the Bombardier (F6) position.

Edit: F6 problem found. Somehow the keyboard settings were changed, bomber sight to F6 had been changed. Noticed several other keyboard settings have been changed, ie. Num Keypad and the view settings.

Found the issue.  Should be good now.

Still seeing "P-51d_8 completed" after entering online arena, before download resumes with new skins, but same 3 skins, 27,28,and 29, are not missing from folder now.

The engine sounds from the cockpit are still a little off. 

Turning your head directly right or left, the engine is significantly louder than when facing forward.

It was doing that in my planes from the get-go.  The up view was the loudest and very distorted. 

I figured that was fixed at some point because today, the rear view is now quieter than the front and the up view is no longer loud and choppy.


EDIT: Just did a quick test and apparently, the issue is still there.  Maybe it's worse in radial engines.
The above results were from a P-40C, the results below from a F6F:
The rear view is louder than the front view and the up view is the loudest and choppy sounding.
Turning your head back and forth from right to left, the sound cuts in and out. 
Shouldn't be such variations of sound levels in an enclosed cockpit.


This issue has been around AH3 as long as I can remember.  Sigh.

Hi All,

Not sure if this is where to report this or not as it has been ongoing since the beginning of beta as far as I know.

When you go into the hangar screen to choose your aircraft it typically shows you the number of hours / minutes you can get with selected fuel load out.

Unfortunately the characters are white on a mostly white background and it is very difficult (if at all able) to read.

Could the font / text be changed to black instead? Or some color against the white background that is legible?

Decided it was time to turn vsync on, as I'd noticed some tearing last time I played.  Discovered my frame rate dipped to 29ish and varying, no other settings changed.

Looking straight up at blue sky through the canopy, I could get as high as 50.  Dropped out and turned off vsync, back to displaying around 70fps, looking straight up out the canopy over 100.

Turned vsync on, back to 30ish.  Off, back to 70ish.  I've got most of the settings on except lens flare, one notch of environment.  4096 texture size.

I am fairly confident it wasn't just a frame rate reporting issue, it did actually look choppy.

I'm confused by this, since I thought if your video card is powerful enough to provide 70fps with VSync off, it should be able to provide a solid 59-60 fps with VSync on.  (I assume your monitor refresh rate is 60Hz).

I noticed a lot of choppiness myself recently - when I turned tree detail all the way up.  I was in a GV and wanted to see as much detail as I could from ground.  My frame rate was around 45, but the game was essentially unplayable due to how choppy it was.   Switched back to default graphic settings.

This sounds like I am double buffering instead of triple, I just verified the issue.

Probably has been reported before (I'm not fully up to date):

- 1-2 versions ago: (Pilot?) hit on lead bomber by manned 88 instantly killed all 3 bombers
- Right now: Attacked a formation of B-29s, attacked & set ablaze the lead, after that went down the drones suddenly started to smoke (oil)
- Tried to check the film, drones didn't even show up until the lead bomber was gone

That's interesting.  I thought I saw some flakiness last night with a drone that I didn't think I'd hit smoking.  It didn't seem odd enough to me at the time to explore further (my passes had been pretty low angle, couldn't say definitively which one I'd hit) but it sounds like it might be worth looking at.

Any chance you could go back to those locations, reproduce the bug, then use (.psave filename) to show Hitech where the bugs are that need fixing. After all this is an open beta for us to find "bugs" to help Hitech fix bugs we find for him.

Psave creates a txt file in the settings directory so you need to give each a filename. Then you can cut and paste the contents back into the correct DX version bug reporting forum.

AH3 is not live yet and this form is titled "Open Beta".

Ki-61's turn/bank indicator still slow, and still goes outside it's gauge. :noid

Upped out of A54 and destroyed the ords bunker you can see when looking out of the tower in front, and I cannot see the fire or smoke.  Switch to F3, then I can see the fire and smoke.

Also, the ords bunker vanish for a split second before showing it's destroyed state when destroyed.

Cant get any base captures! We've taken towns to white flag and all guns even dropped 2 sets of troops at multiple bases and they wont switch countries. no friendly troops were put into the map/room to stop it, something wrong. look at the arena map it hasn't change at all.

landed in a boston III with one engine out. could not shut it down with the "E" button. had to do shift-2 to pick that engine then shut it down.
used cntrl E to synchronize engine start and then hit E. engine starts. then hit it again to shut down. did not work. don't know if this is a bug or not.

Fixed for the next patch.

Maybe! I didn't have that happen. Trackir wont work unless you have it turned on before you start the game. Pretty sure you know this but was only thing I know off that would cause tthat to happen. I you didn't know it...Your welcome!!!
