Title: Fixed sphere size

in GUI.  What does it mean?

Dragging the mouse pointer across it gives no hint.  That's another thing, why isn't there a short explanation for every item, instead of just random things?

Most likely the sphere size of the VR set up. If you watch the VR videos HTC has posted it looks like the items are placed on the inside of an invisible/transparent sphere.
