Title: Really?
Post by: KCDitto on August 18, 2016, 12:34:50 AM
Really?

Not a single one of you want to step up and CO the AXIS?

I have done it 3 times now and the MALTA thing just sucked from the start....

It is time for some new blood.

I will help you anyway I can and there are others that will help. There are great people who are dedicated AXIS players and will support you....

Even if you have never done it before, we can help

AXIS is looking for someone to take the big chair!

Is that YOU!

Hell Ditto, we were all thinking you'd do it.  :devil

Seriously though, I know my plate is going to be full as it is come October between work and college. Otherwise I'd do it.

I will however supply these lovely beer maidens to whoever steps up.

I believe Branch37 tentatively volunteered, but he was completely ignored.  Par for the course.

Branch stated that he needed to know for sure that he could make it. I guess that's why there was little reaction at the time.

I will have to make damn sure I'm free before I can commit though.

Wish I could do it guys,  sorry.

I have it on My Aces Bucket list to command a side in a scenario, unfortunately it won't be this one.

Oh goody!

12 hours of Luft chaos !

I'll take a 190A-5 please...hell, no Axis CO - everyone just load out an A-5.  Might as well really smash em good!

I'll lead the Axis if no one steps up - but not as the side CO.  Just in the air.

I believe Branch37 tentatively volunteered, but he was completely ignored.  Par for the course.

In truth, he wasn't ignored, and it isn't par for the course.

I contacted Branch privately.  My sincere thanks to him for giving it serious consideration.  Since he is a helpful person with enthusiasm, we might be lucky enough to have him as a CO in a scenario down the road, but not this one, as RL constraints precluded him from being able to do it this time around.

I also:
-- Contacted 12 other people privately,
-- Posted 2-3 public topics asking for volunteers for Axis CO,
-- Mailed all FSO squad CO's asking them,
-- Asked in the CM forum for any CM's to step up, and
-- Asked the community overall for help in getting an Axis CO.

Still, we don't have one yet.

How about you, TheBug -- will you do it?  It's a good experience being a scenario CO.  It can be challenging, but it is rewarding as well, and puts you into an elite group of players who have ever done it.

I'd be more interested in being CM Lead for Scenarios. Seems to be a bigger hole that needs filling.

Do you really need a CO for this silly 12hr event?  No interest in the format, let's see what the next one brings.   :salute

By the way, here is what is needed for being Axis CO.

Having been a GL in a scenario before.
Having enthusiasm.
Being a reliable, responsible person.

For anything else, highly experienced people on the axis side (ROC, Ditto, Stampf, Devil, etc.) can help.

Be a hero!  Join the elite group of players who have ever been scenario CO's!  :aok

Come on -- give it a try for a couple hours.  You don't have to stay in if you don't like it, and it might be fun.  :aok

Well, if I had the experience I'd do it but I don't. I've been concidering working up the CO part but I need a few more scenarios flying with Devil and watching how everything goes on. Then I'll step up to get a lot more involved. It's not like I have anything to do. Not much use for a pegleg welder /fabricator in the real world lol  :salute

CO'ing isn't too bad. I literally was thrown into CO'ing in the middle of frame 1 for the Dniepper side. I was leading III/JG52. I had a blast. It's. It too hard, feels like you're hearding cats sometimes, but it all works out when the fight breaks out.

If and only if there is absolutely no one, and I mean no one to take on the herculean task of running the Luftwaffe and all other possible avenues of potential leaders have been explored. With the stipulation that there are absolutely no objections from the lufties LTG, JG11, and also CMs.. As the last resort, I may take the job.

Thank you, Dolby!  I sincerely appreciate that.  I will keep exploring to the best of my ability and only take you up on it under the conditions you offer.

Truly -- thank you! <S>!  :aok

I will send a bottle of this to whoever ends up being the Axis CO in the upcoming "Tunisia 1943" scenario on October 22nd.  (If you are old enough -- if you are not old enough, I will send you a check for $40 instead.)

Volunteers for the position need only these qualifications:
-- You flew at last once as a GL in a past scenario.
-- You are an enthusiastic and reliable person.

Highly experienced guys on the axis side (ROC, Stampf, Ditto, Devil, and others) will be there to help you.

I'm on call every weekend in October so it really doesn't matter to me. I'm still going to fly but I may not make the whole frame.

Nothing says quality bonding time like being wingmen for a 12 hour scenario.

Thanx for the link Devil.

Big Thanx to Brooke, for setting up this one!  Looks intense and involved.  As I have never done the 12 hour format before, I'm already excited thinking of how I'll spend AN ENTIRE DAY playing a scenario. Unlimited lives!  FYI - I'm Pacific Time so I'll get up in the morning, have breakfast, then go kill things until Dinner time ( with short breaks for lunch and calls of nature).  I'm so porta-potty (yes/no)? Move my refreshment refrigerator into my game room?  Yes!
Now, which side to play on?

It's my 3rd favorite choice here - behind both 109's.

Maybe in some Bizzaro World scenario where the RAF squared off against the USAAF or VVS.  :devil

WOW!  It's nice to be wanted.  Especially at my age.  :old:   I think everyone knows I fly the Spits a lot, but I'm also quite partial to the German rides, especially in FSO and Scenarios.  Now, BFOOT wants me in a P38 and that is just a big mistake on all our parts.  :joystick:  Also, I have to admit I usually lean to the Axis side, partly for the perceived additional challenge as the losers of WWII. :bhead   I guess I'm just a sucker for the 'underdog'. :pray   The logic of the underdog is... if you lose, well you weren't expected to win in the first place so no real shame as long as you gave it a gallant fight, :aok   but if you win, it was a truly spectacular accomplishment and you are golden forever.  :rock
In summation, while I greatly appreciate everyone's offers, I'm going to think about this a bit until registration starts.  But thanks ALL!  :D
