Ram
It's like a poor man's trackir. Basically it locks your view to an enemy fighter, IIRC.
I've toyed with it a little, but never really liked using it myself.
-
I use it watching films.
Ram padlock keeps the other aircraft in view as long as it's not in your blind spot. The problem with padlock is having more than one opponent.

I had a squaddie with a disability and used it when bagging pelt after pelt. Some of the comments show the disregard to a segment of the population who benefit from things, most would rather poke fun. Poor man's nothing.

As I understand it, it's best used in bombers. Padlock will train all gun positions on the target that can see it. Those guns will fire when you fire. So if you're manning the tail turret and have a target padlocked that's coming in high from the left, the top turret and left waist guns will also track and fire on the target as you engage from the tail. As he dives through low to the right and you shift to ball turret, the right waist gun will track and fire on the target as you engage from the ball turret. Padlock increases your fire power especially when in formation, because the same drone gun positions will track and fire along with you. The other guns are only as accurate as your aim though from whatever gun position you are manning.

All bomber guns that have a line of fire will shoot in the direction you are shooting at as long as you "fire all" (the guns converge at 500 yards). Your view mode (padlock) has nothing to do with that.
-
So what does Padlock do if not that and when do you use it? That's the way it was "plained" to me.
-
It's purely a view mode. When padlock is on, you select an enemy by the TAB key and then your view will track that locked enemy as long as possible
-
Padlock is also great when flying formation.

I do... And it works great if you set it up correctly. I would have to look what 3 buttons I use.

Thanks for the clarification. My previous understanding was incorrect. Was connecting too many dots at once. My bad. Wasn't trying to mislead anyone.
-
I use to use it to keep an eye on high fighters

I would love to hear how you utilize it. :aok

I suspect I know who you are referring to, if we're thinking of the same gent while I never flew with him much I can vouch for his aim in a flak wagon.
