Was messing around with SweetFX tonight, here is what it looks like with the settings I use for AH2. Will be messing around this weekend some more and make a couple of different settings for AH3.
SweetFX Off

Made another one that sharpens up the colors.

:airplane: Yes, but what happened to the lighting on the instrument panel? LOL

Where the sun is at, it's not lighting up the instrument panel. But that can be resolved by disabling "Post-Lighting" in game in the AH advanced graphic settings.

For those that want to try either one of these settings, here are the instructions to download and install SweetFX.
1. Download Reshade with SweetFX 2.0 here (http://reshade.me/sweetfx#download)
2. Unzip the file to your hard drive
3. Go to the location on your hard drive to the folder you unzipped Reshade to and run the Reshadesetup.exe program
4. Make sure auto-detect is checked (or you can manually select DirectX 11 or DirectX9) and click on "Select Game" and go to your AH folder and select Aceshigh11 (If you are running Windows XP or have a non-DirectX 11/12 compatible video card, then select Aceshigh9.exe)
5. You should get a message that SweetFX was successfully installed
Now it's time to add the SweetFX settings
1. Download either of my SweetFX settings (Sharp Colors) (http://www.mediafire.com/download/v6b3pb59cbiyd7t/SweetFX_Settings_sharp_colors.zip) (Technicolor) (http://www.mediafire.com/download/df1ybas65ugk8qm/SweetFX_Settings_Technicolor.zip)
2. Unzip whichever setting you downloaded to your AH directory (C:\Hitech Creations\Aces High III\SweetFX)
3. In the SweetFX folder, rename "SweetFX_Settings" to "SweetFX_Settings.bak"
4. Rename the SweetFX setting you downloaded to "SweetFX_Settings"
Start AH3 and you should see a message in the upper left corner that will tell you if the settings loaded successfully, you'll also be able to tell by the changes to the look of the splash screen. Scroll Lock turns SweetFX on/off while in game.
Enjoy.

Thanks... for the post :salute

Love the Settings AKAK, much better than what I worked up several months ago.
-
I like this program but for some reason when I left it on auto detect it switched itself to DX9 which was not compatible with game "DX11" and caused AHIII to crash, which I fixed with a reinstall. I dont think I did anything wrong as its all straight forward. I'll try again in the future. I ran it successfully in AHII.

If the auto-detect isn't working for you, then manually select DirectX 11.
-
The program picks DX9 when on auto detect, so I tried checking DX11 and program will not let me manually pick which version. Any suggestions??

When selecting the game, make sure that you select Aceshigh11.exe.

Did select 11 several times in auto still no go, with it in auto program did load a couple times but loaded dx9 version. And am not able to manually tick the dx11 version.

Make sure your desktop shortcut is for "aceshigh11.exe", not "aceshigh9.exe".
-
I had the same problem :(
Edit:
It crashed my game a couple of times, but weirdly..I could go offline to play and it worked :headscratch:
-
The largest problem with the graphics without sweetFX is on the terrain overall there is too much pastel colored green..its too light. I'd like to see more dark greens and browns into he mix to make it look more realistic and provide better contrast between planes and ground and to provide a better sense of depth

Jimmy I have the shortcut for 11, my problem is trying to setup sweetfx for 11. Thanks non the less :aok
-
I had the same problem. It would not let me select DX11 despite having everything setup correctly.
-
OK I am totally confused. :headscratch:
Where do you set it up for DX11. There is no place in the Global settings nor the SweetFX settings to select DX9 vs DX11.
I am currently running SweetFX on AH3 DX11 using one of AKAK's profiles. The clarity especially on GV's from the air is outstanding. I would assume that SweetFX is using the DX11 in AH3. But I'm no hot shot programmer or graphics specialist. :)
-
When you select the Aceshigh11.exe in the Reshade set up, it will automatically select to use DirectX 11. If it's not selecting DirectX 11, you can do it manually by clicking on the DirectX 11 button on the Reshade setup interface.
-
I would shy away from third party software till the pre release goes to full release. That is unless you do not want to do any further input into any game issues.
Once you addin third party software, any issue you have may be related to that and not AHIII.
-
It can be easily disabled while in flight if you want to do any testing.
-
What does it do the frame rate?

Really liked your Technicolor setting for AH2. Love the blue tint. Reminds me of Kodachrome.
-
Hmm maybe I give it a try just for a monochrome setting. Back in the day when I was playing European Air War, I had an old screen which I could switch to b/w by a single button push. I though it was actually pretty cool "vintage" looking...
-
Despite using the DX11.exe it would not allow me to select it. Defaults to auto and the other boxes are no selectable.
-
Hey, I downloaded SweetFX and followed the instructions. Now AH3 won't start. I get a popup "aceshigh11.exe has stopped working" and nothing I do helps. Need some advice here.
-
I would warn anyone off of SweetFX. It crapped out my game. My machine is brand new, too. Have to uninstall and reinstall everything.
-
When you select the Aceshigh11.exe in the Reshade set up, it will automatically select to use DirectX 11. If it's not selecting DirectX 11, you can do it manually by clicking on the DirectX 11 button on the Reshade setup interface.
No, you can't.
-
Ok I think I know why it doesn't work. I have DX12 installed. I read Reshade does not work with DX12. Go to search, do a dxdiag.exe and find out which version you have.
-
That was it. I have DX12. :bhead
-
I have dx11 installed but I had the same crash during startup screen.
-
Have not had 1 problem with SweetFX, was using it in beta and now pre-release. :airplane:
-
What does it do the frame rate?
It really doesn't have an impact on frame rates.

For those having troubles installing Reshade + SweetFX 2.0, using SweetFX 1.5 should work but since I don't run Windows 10, haven't tested it.
1. Download SweetFX 1.5 Here (http://www.mediafire.com/download/ycakzbus4d6kr9w/SweetFX_1_5-23364.7z)
2. Unzip the file to your Aces High 3 folder (should be: C:\Hitech Creations\Aces High III)
3. Download my SweetFX 1.5 setting here (http://www.mediafire.com/download/nssx8aalavdnpwa/SweetFX_Settings_Aces_High_AH_Technicolor_v3_1.5.txt) and save it to the SweetFX folder in your AH3 directory
4. In your AH3 directory, you should see the file "SweetFX_settings", rename this file to "SweetFX_settings.bak
5. Go into the SweetFX folder in your AH3 directory and rename the file you just downloaded to "SweetFX_settings"
6. Copy and paste "SweetFX_settings" into the main AH3 directory
6. Run AH3 and the SweetFX should be enabled on start up.
-
Forgot to post the uninstall instructions if you did the instructions outlined in the above post.
Just remove the SweetFX folder and files from your AH3 directory.
Files to remove:
d3d9.dll
d3d9.fx
dxgi.dll
dxgi.fx
injector.ini
log.log
shader.fx
SweetFX readme.txt
SweetFX_preset.txt
SweetFX_settings.txt
-
Ack-Ack, thanks for this. It definitely made the palette more palatable for me.

Will using 1.5 instead of 2.0 not cause the AH program to crash at startup when the splash screen displays ? It shows the sweetFX info lines at the top left of the screen, but still crashes with the 'aces hi has stopped working' popup.
This is on a windows-7 system with DX11 installed.
-
I still can't get it to work.
-
Same here, 1.5 failed saying the D3DCompiler was not there and it's in the AH3 directory, then the Aces Hi has stopped working crash message.
Thank you for the uninstall notes, easier than reinstalling AH3 again, that worked fine.
-
Thanks for this Warmongo. It failed for me and I also have DX12 installed.

Back when I was testing with a PCI-Ex2 video card I tried SweetFX, it had an impact on frame rates. With my PCI-Ex3 video card that runs the game 59-60 at defaults 4096, I ran into a small loss of FPS enabling FXAA which is kind of an on board NVIDIA SweetFX. And enabling DSR made a hit on some of my FPS which got worse increasing the slider.
Some graphics cards won't break a sweat, some will take hits.
-
AckAck. It says I have sweetfx running when I start up the game but when I enable or disable I see no change in colors. So I have not done something right but not sure what it is. Any idea?

Beau, what profile are you running?
-
I downloaded the sharper colors. I probably should have downloaded the technicolor one. Is there anything I need to do to get rid of the sharper colors profile and insert the technicolor one?
Coot
-
Copy AKAK's Techincolor profile and paste it into the SweetFX_settings text file.
-
Is SweetFX working with windows 10?
SweetFX set up properly is unbelievable. I turn off all vid card profile stuff and let SweetFX handle it. Its biggest asset is control of B/W contrasts and enriching the colors. Makes for a way better view.
Will have to decide whats better AH3's AA handling or SweetFX's AA handling.
-
My game crashed on this Window App event message, "Faulting module name: d3d9.dll, version: 2.0.3.1120, time stamp: 0x570150f8" when I needed to upgrade to patch 4. I just removed a few of the SweetFX files AKAK mentioned (d3d9.dll was one of those files) in a previous post to unlink SweetFx from AHIII. Once this was done the game continued normally with getting patch 4. I re-installed SweetFx with patch 4 and it worked okay.
-
Is SweetFX working with windows 10?
No, because it's DirectX12. The Reshade author hasn't decided if he wants to do it for Windows 10.
-
I sure do hope he does a W10 sweetfx!! I loved it in AHII. I used it in the beta till around patch 25 or so and then it started crashing the game. I believe it was both DX9 and 11. Cant remember know.lol Bustr fixed my main issue with the graphics colors in AHIII, my NVidia card was running a limited pallet instead of Full spectrum, due to HDMI input. I don't miss sfx as much now, but bet it would really kick now! Come to think of it, it could have been the upgrade to W10 that caused it to crash the game, I upgraded around that time. Cant remember that either, seeing a trend here I think LOL ACKACK, you really made my gaming experience way more addictive....thanks anyway lol Its cheaper than drugs so no harm, except now the only exercise I get is doing TrackIR "chair YOGA", coined by Bustr . Just realized I cant get smileys to work, :(
