This newsreel has lots of familiar guncam footage, but also stuff I haven't seen, including super-clear images of German fighters getting shot up, nifty strafing INTO a hangar, and some German floatplanes getting shot up on a lake.
Many targeted planes still have their drop tanks, proving what Saint-Exupéry said: "Fighters don't kill - they murder."
Enjoy!

Listen to the announcer at 33:05.
I'm guessing he is talking about Defense of the Reich bands, is anyone know what the background is?

"Copied allied invasion stripes" - I presume he meant the Germans painted the white and black d-day identification stripes on their own planes to fool the allies. But that wouldn't work if the planes are parked on a German airfield!

Thats the best/worse guncam film Ive ever seen. Sure makes it look like murder in the air. :cry

The vast majority of air to air kills in WWII were done with the victim unaware. Factor in also the huge amount of time between actual encounters and the growing odds and disparity of skills between allied and axis pilot post 1943, and air combat was less jousting than straight up killing.
IMHO, the balance that AH3 strives for existed only in small windows of time in real life - North Africa 1941, Rabaul/New Guinea 1942, etc. The rest of the time it was a slaughter one way or the other.

Friendly Fire at 27:41?! That looks like a Mossie

I took everything I saw with a grain of salt after it said "Two 190s come rolling in" and it was a pair of P-47s. You could even see the big white stripe painted in the P-47s cowlings.
