The 2.0 Alpha? Are there many multiplayer servers?

I stick to 1.5 the current release. It's buggy enough already, I'm not going to mess with the Alpha without a REALLY good reason.
-
I downloaded the Alpha because i couldn't see any multiplayer servers
Wasn't sure if it was just my connection or not?
-
My brother in law is huge into DCS, I flew one test flight in it and uninstalled. Not paying their prices for aircraft I don't enjoy flying.
-
if you look up some "underground" sites, you can find a "mod" that adds icons to war thunders simulator mode, which makes it insanely fun.
it has a different feel than AH but all im looking for now is a stall horn mod and i'll be good to go.
-
I have literally played them all. Aces High is the best without exception. It does play better at U.S. times for obvious reasons.

How is the il-2 scene these days?
I know 1946 had a few busy servers, and COD had a few good mods, but this was a year or 2 ago! Anyone know if these are still actively played?
I fancy giving battle of staying rad a go also, but reluctant tof splash out if all the servers are empty!

Rise of Flight but it may be too hard for you
Cliffs of Dover is cheap with modders it is good again it may be to hard for you
:rofl :rofl

I'm curious what you disliked so much about it? They DO have WWII aircraft as well as the modern stuff.
-
Is there one airplane that isn't buggy? or have a flight model problem? or other glitch that just defeats the purpose of flying it?
-
I still play Rise of Flight regularly, though almost exclusively in the offline career mode. Their lack of decent online arenas and the boredom of facing the same two or three enemy pilots every time you go up in the online play got old very quickly.
And I tried the P-51 on his DCS account. Hated it, by the time I was done (about an hour), I had no desire to even try it again. He showed my his A-10 and MiG trying to get me to give it a go with jets, but if I wanted to spend all of my time flipping switches, adjusting knobs and staring at MFDs, I'd have just joined the Air Force.

How many RoF aircraft and mods did you buy? I think I have all airplanes and all German field mods. I didn't like the way 777 partnered for BoS and just left RoF hanging.

Hey Micky,
IL-2: Battle of Stalingrad/Battle of Moscow are very active. They have some good plans for the future too with Battle of Kuban coming up then the Pacific theatre afterwards.
Do you have Steam or some way I can contact you outside of AH?

I hope you're not going as far as exploiting the game. What's your name over there? I'd be glad to give it to the devs.
btw Micky.. I think I found your Steam account, sent you a request.

RoF is a 7 year old game, they wanted to move onto bigger and better projects. Though the lead dev in BoS, Jason Williams, has said recently he's thinking about going back to RoF and updating it to the BoS engine. But don't get your hopes up too high, it's just an idea.

Cool, I'll add you mate!
Ill buy IL-2 this weekend!
-
If you buy it I will :old:
-
I've just bought it :rofl

I have most of the fighters and the mods for them. I think all I'm missing land-based fighter wise is the Pfalzes, the Hanriot and the Sopwith Triplane and Dolphin.

Why would anyone fly something else when he can fly Aces High? ;)

Why would anyone fly something else when he can fly Aces High? ;)
Because AH doesn't have an SE-5a or an Albatros. Or a SPAD, or a Nieuport...

Because Rise of Flight is probably one of the best WW1 sims since Rowan's Flying Corps and Red Baron 3D. AH's WW1...well, that's kind of lacking.

They will do the same thing with BoS. After they have your money they will move on.

They added player controlled tanks into the game in their spare time, nobody asked them to do it and it wasn't on their budget. Yeah I'd say they're just in it for the money.
I think you're confusing BoS/RoF with War Thunder.
-
Not at all. Their upkeep of RoF has become token at best.
-
Offline in ROF very nice on line is poo
No time to play it now we have AHIII

Back in Red Baron 3D, we would have epic months-long wars. It was amazing, all online. We would plan out our missions, had a limited number of aircraft. It required 3 or 4 hours a night dedication several nights a week to play. I think this was in 1998. Had to keep track of who killed who, who got shot down, etc. But it was a blast. I only participated in one "Great War", too worn out to fly it again. It also used a rolling plane set, so at different times the Central powers would have the aircraft advantage, or the Allieds would.
I was part of a German squadron, Jasta 5 if I remember correctly.
