Aaaarrrrgggggg,
Just bought a thrust master warthog, stick, rudder, and throttle. The throttle fires the guns, no flight controls work, and as soon as the game starts all guns are firing.
Also, bought an oculus rift, can't find the setting to make it work in AC3, please help ! :bhead
Btw, I'm pretty much an idiot so be specific
-
Check the pedal mapping. Calibrate each controller in advanced controller setup. Check all the throttle and stick mappings.
For the rift go to options in the rift program and check allow other programs or whatever it's called.
-
In the Oculus program in settings/general check allow unknown sources. Map a button to tracker center.
Use the lens spacing feature often until you get used to it to make sure the headset is aligned for the best picture. You don't have to reset the spacing, just check the headset position.
Leave space around your nose for ventilation and peeking at the keyboard.
-
Forgot to mention, the rift headset forces power savings on the usb hub it's plugged into. You may need your controllers and the rift sensor plugged into a different usb hub.
-
went to oculus, checked to allow unknown sources.
what is "map a button to tracker mean" ??
-
In AH clipboard options map controllers you can map a throttle or joystick button to 'tracker center', it's listed in views. This lets you center either TrackIr or the Rift while in game without using the Oculus app.
Everything working now?
-
Nothing. I programmed a button but nothing comes on the VR.
Do I need to be on line, or is off line ok?
-
Make sure you are running the DX11 version of the game. The DX9 version does not support VR headsets.
-
When you start the DX11 version the game asks if you wish to use your Oculus. Just click yes. Your start menu has both DX9 and DX11 versions.
It works offline and online.
Can you run the Dreamdeck demo's in Oculus?
-
I can run dream deck no problem.
Where in the start menu do you get to pick between 9 and 11 ??
Btw, thanks for the help I do appreciate it...
-
You should see both versions under Hitech Creations. I'm surprised the installation didn't put a shortcut on your desktop for the dx11 version.
-
You mean HTC website? A different download?
-
In the folder C:\Hitech Creations\Aces High III\Aceshigh9.exe or ..\Aceshigh11.exe
-
You mean HTC website? A different download?
Sorry for the confusion, I meant Aces High III on the start menu. I was at work and remembered the folder name instead of the menu name.

You can simply right click on the existing aces High 3 desktop icon and select "Open file location" it will take you to the folder with the dx 11 version right next to the DX 9 version your desktop icon is currently tied to.
When you find the proper DX 11 .exe you can right click that and send it to desktop creating a new shortcut. Mine did NOT install any desktop icon other then the DX 9 version.
Good luck.
-
The default desktop ICON was changed back to the DX9 version until we get the DX11 version more stable.
-
Damn, getting discouraged maybe I should just quit trying to play this sim.
Got the 11 version shortcut, and it actually started then immediately froze up. Next, I'm getting a nag screen saying it's missing "fmodstudio.dll" . Tried reinstalling but no luck. Should I just quit? Despite AH3 being the newest version it just doesn't seem to be able to run with the latest gear.....
-
Oh, it works with the latest gear alright.
-
*help*
So do I need to find, download, and somehow install fmodstudio.dll, whatever the heck that is?
Just getting antsy to get in the air...
-
The missing file is part of the game download.
All you should have to do is install AH3, run the DX11 version, and click yes when it asks you if you want to use your Oculus.
-
You are making this much harder than you need to be making it on yourself.
Take a deep breath.
1) Re-install the game over the top of your current installation and remove whatever desktop shortcut to the DX11 version you created.
2) Try running the DX11 version right from the Windows Start->Programs->Aces High III->Aces High III DX11 menu option.
Now that you got it working, and it will, you can then try and carefully create a desktop shortcut. Be careful and do not move the executable to the desktop. You will get the error you are getting now with the DLL missing.
-
Expect to spend some time mapping your controllers, calibrating all the axis ( you can use the throttle friction lever on the right side of your throttle for RPM FYI), and then adjusting them so they work like you want.
Deep breath, and while I know you are ansy to play...gotta put the work in to get it going. Glad skuzzy figured out you drug the .exe file out to desktop vs making a shortcut.
Good luck and if you have trouble with Warthog setup, I'll be glad to help.
