I'm sure this has been asked for many times, but can we get a Play by Mail mode? It would be fairly easy to implement - we'd need a top-down map view, and plane icons we can move with our cursor. Maybe a hexagonal overlay to track aircraft position and direction.
Beside the map we could have sliders to indicate altitude of each A/C, and slider to indicate ammo remaining.
Each pilot would write down his aicraft's move for that turn on 3x5 postcards and mail them to the others who would re-plot the position of his plane on the map. We could do maybe a move every week or two, depending on how the mail is running.
A move would look like:
Mutha: F3L1F3RBR1C200 (Forward three hexes, Direction turn 1 to left, Forward three hexes, right barrel roll 1 hex (shifts aircraft over one hex to right), climb 200 feet). Simple!
If a pilot has a firing solution on another aircraft, he arranges a day and time to call the pilot of the target plane, and conference him in with Hi-Tec. Hi-Tec would do the dice roll and tell the pilots the outcome.
For navigational purposes, in the center of the map we could have a landmark called Avalon Hill.
