I guess they're becoming a real problem. What are we going to do?

They are a huge problem.  Because of overfishing, they have replaced the the majority of medium sized fish that prey on baitfish (sardine sized fish).  So instead of schools of snapper, we have schools of jellyfish.  The last few times I dove (scuba dived) in Florida, the jellyfish were horrible.  One dive, which I did without a wetsuit (just swimming trunks and a t-shirt, and my BC), I ran into a group of jellyfish ranging from the size of volleyballs to beach balls. I got the heck out of the water fast.  I snapped one photo with my underwater camera, I just couldn't believe what I was seeing.

There have been a few cases were jellyfish have clogged the cooling water intakes to nuclear power plants.

But there is hope.  Just like the destruction of California kelp forests that have been reversed by restoring the predators of sea urchins (the sea otter), if we restore the predators of jellyfish, they will decline.  Unfortunately, only certain fish and sea turtles eat jellyfish.

thats what you hope! truth is global warming has tilted the ocean to self destruct. gods ocean creatures are listed by edible fashion and it just so happens jellyfish are the bottom.  in fact they are not edible.  The intelligent design is that they are the penalty for ignorance, yep, ignorance.  we were given the ability to recognize our wrongs and continued down the path.  we now reap what we have sown, an ocean of poisonous predators, devouring the food chain to expedite the rapture.   No biggie, it's in the cards.

Jellyfish are edible, but they are so low in caloric content that a person could not survive off of them.

Eating Jellyfish
Eating dried jellyfish is highly nutritious and they contain a lot of good substances. Jellyfish are one of Asia's most popular foods and are served dried and chopped into small pieces and boiled to add a crunchy texture and remove salt. Their health benefits are that they contain a lot of calcium binding proteins which improve memory and help to fight age related cognitive decline. In one study 56 participants were put on a jellyfish diet and it was found that 57% of them experienced memory improvements. Normally our brain produces calcium binding proteins of its own, but as we get older these reduce in number. This is a problem as the proteins are used in order to regulate the amount of calcium in the brain cells and this can then slow down various brain functions.
At the same time dried jellyfish contain collagen which may be helpful for the treatment of arthritis and visible signs of aging once again. All this suggests that while you're not going to become immortal like the Jellyfish, you will nevertheless gain some youthfulness as a result of eating them. Jellyfish are also harvested for their collagen and this can be used in many beauty products.
Most fundamentally though, the jellyfish is mostly protein and water meaning that it is a very lean source of amino acids with very few carbohydrates or fats making them the perfect diet food.
