Curval, you got everything tied down and buttoned up? Looks like Nichole is locked in on you.
-
Yea, stay safe Curval...this storm is no joke.
-
lol
I was posting in the Matthew thread.
As I said there, we are in a bit of shock here as to how strong this thing grew. It is going to be the strongest storm I have ever experienced.
We are well hunkered down, all of the outdoor stuff is secured, boat is out of the water and thus far we still have power. That won't last.
If anyone is interested, there is a web cam at the Naval Dockyard:

Not sure how long it will last.....

ok, it is starting to get windy. Just had a spare window and frame I secured come crashing down on the balcony. It is secured now, it fell flush against the ground and the suction created by the wet surface is such that I can't move it at all now. It is getting a bit crazy so I am just going to leave it. I am amazed it didn't break.
Rain is lashing and wind is really picking up. I will never forget the shrieking during Fabian in 2003. This will be like that eventually.
-
What the heck? Another one?
-
stay safe Curval.

Currently watching the Weather Channel...live shots from Bermuda. Edge of the eye passing over now...all I can say is damn.
-
120 MPH winds  that's like a tornado...everywhere. :uhoh :uhoh

Check this out, this is what is was really like just before the eye came over:

We have two apartments below the house. On one side we have had flooding because the leaves and stuff block a drain and it causes the flooding problem. I went out in that thing 3 times to unblock that drain...we have guests arriving in a couple of days and could not have it flood out.
I got fed up with changing out of wet clothes so on the last time I just stripped down, through on a rain jacket and went. My wife was watching from a window in the living room. Three times I heard the roar of an oncoming gust and jumped up and ducked into the entranceway of the apartment, shoving myself as far into the corner and I could and bracing myself so I didn't get pushed over by the wind. My wife said that the gusts totally whited out her view and when it cleared I was not there and she freaked out, thinking I had been blown away.
It would have been difficult for her to explain why I was naked and just had a raincoat on if it had been the case....lol
I didn't go out again after that, it was just too bad and I was worried trees were going to start flying around. I am actually amazed so many didn't.

Crazy winds!
Beautiful place you live, worth the risk of a typhoon once in awhile. Many friends of mine are asking me suggestions before they book a vacation; i always tell them better spend a week in Bermuda than 2 weeks in Cuba, Mexico or Dominican for same $$, and come back with bed bugs and Zika.
I was impressed after years in muddy, stinky lower Caribbean Sea islands,I remember my first stop in Bermuda back in 04.02.97 , on board of Royal Princess cruise ship; i've been surfing my photos last week, damn, i'm getting old. :D

Good man! :) You BETTER be in touch if/when you come down. Drinks on me.
It is a beautiful day here today, just a bit of wind but clear skies. I am hopeful the golf tournament on Saturday is still on!
Going to the office for a bit then home to check on power there (we are at the Guesthouse now). Then I will have to change and start cleaning up the yard etc. Bit of a mess over there right now and our handyman at the Guesthouse will have his hands full and be unable to help until tomorrow.

Glad to see all is well with you Curval. Bermuda has a special place with my wife and me, we had our honeymoon there 18 yrs ago this week...and have been back 8 times or so. Hoping to come back this Spring as well.
-
Make sure you get in touch before you come.
My buddy and I are going to grab the boat at about 1.30pm and put her back in her berth where she belongs.
Boating day planned for Sunday. Gonna be a beautiful weekend.
-
looks great on the webcam today! :aok
glad everyone is safe and well.
-
Glad to hear you made it through OK. Just a thought, but why didn't you just put on a bathing suit instead of au naturel? Just a thought. :D
-
That would have meant getting another piece of clothing wet. Even a bathing suit. We didn't have power and the pile of wet clothes was growing. That is why I stripped off. Either way I was getting wet.
