Title: Direct X question
Post by: FireBall on October 17, 2016, 09:32:30 PM
I was running Aces High 3 in DX11 after the last update it runs in DX9.  Is this normal and does it matter?

Thank You

It was switched to help people having trouble with DX11. You can use either version.

On the Windows start menu you have the choice of DX9 or DX11. You can make a shortcut for either one.

The Windows 10 start menu?  Please define "Windows"  Not sure we talking the same thing, and I'd need a lot more specifics in the extend of direct detailed instructions.  But thanks anyway.

I don't use Windows 10. How do you normally start Aces High?

OK, The Icon, my Icon for AH3 points to an Exe that is for D11.  I noticed in the HTC folder that there are two Exe's, one for DX9  and one for DX11.

thanks

You can run either version. You can make a new icon for DX9 or you can change the file the current shortcut points to.

What does 11 do differently than 9?

What does 11 do differently than 9?

The DX11 version is configured to use the DirectX 11 API.

The DX9 version is configured to use the DirectX 9 API.

The underlying architecture of the API's (application program interface) is very different.

"This one goes to eleven.  It is two more than the other one!"
