Getting very frustrated with gear up landing situations ending with me getting killed. I had 0 issues landing under 150 true airspeed in AH2. AH3? Good luck, blow up 7/10 times .
/whine thread closed.

I havent had that happen? I do however tend to need to go around for geardown landings! Shorter runways I guess? I usually just retract gear on a bounce. But havent gotten killed below 180. Is it maybe in a particular plane that this happens? I am no expert here, you are a long time player,so just suggestion

I agree, this isnt happening to me to the point where I notice, but we fly totally different planes.
Any one in particular you have it happening in?

The instance tonight was is in the 190A8 w/ the rockets that explode in air. Funny you say you pull your gear on a bounce, this is exactly what I did in the a8. Other instances were in a ta-152, 190D9, and La-7. 190 series seem to be the most common denominator here.
Also I have heard trying to ditch on water just blows you up aswell.
-
I will check out 190s and landing on my end. It could be just a lag in refresh rate? Figure it could be the same as watching some players looking like a crash only to zoom back out of the ground :bhead Maybe you could be faster than it tells you in real time?

Ndisles? Because it was bugged on this map for some planes at least until last week, along with the inability to ditch in water. HT knew about it.

Lag has nothing to do with such things, as you don't do the landing on a server but on your own computer. What others see from you is irrelevant.

I can't say this has happened to me, unless I was pulling over 150 or dipped my nose down at the wrong time. I typically fly a Spitfire, Yak, or Nik, and I usually slide right down the runway at 150 or less, so I can't speak to the outcome in a 190. :headscratch:

Ya, I blew up on a water landing too :(
-
It's happened to me twice trying to land in water, going at least 130.

The map last night was the Buzzsaw map.

Here's a thought...put the gear down. If it's broken, get that speed at or below 100. I've had no issues dumping busted planes in on the runway.

It depends on the map. On most maps you can ditch, on at least one, possible two it's broken. It's a map bug that can't be fixed by getting even slower.

Sorry, with a pilot wound soon to kill me, I decided a gear down landing might end up with me dying.
Knowing what I know now, it obviously didn't matter because I died anyways.
** HiTech, I also posted a film link in the bug forum under the "DITCHING" thread.

Landing in water 100-130 mph, lightly touching down resulted in crashes. Not a problem in AH II

Someone mentioned the Buzzsaw map. Last night I put a deadstick Jug with no elevators gear up on the runway and survived.

Happens to me trying to Ditch in water. I blow up

On NDISLES I only had that problem in the Ta 152H but not in the three or four fighters I randomly tested. Then again, it only happened on Ndsisles, not on the two other terrains I tested.
So the no wheels on runway bug was/is a map bug limited to certain planes.
For the record, I couldn't ditch any plane at all on the sea in NDisles.

Looks like he found the bug according to the thread in the bugs forum.

A loaded FW190A8 stall at about 100 with any stick/rudder input.
Remember an loaded A8 is a pregnant hippo that use its ears as its wings :old:
Gear down a is much better choice if you have them intact.
Died a couple of times in gear-up landings in the 190-series of planes in AH3.

Maybe htc is forcing more realism.

watch my film. Never in a million years what happened would happen in RL.
Plane randomly jumped 25 feet+ up and when i came back down. boom.
-
Gear up n runway no issues. Anywhere else - dead. YMMV
-
You guys could try landing with the gear down, I hear that works well.
(Dick post I know, ignore and move along. :)

Got any footage of planes exploding into nothingness?
Pretty sure that didn't happen too many times in R/L.
Coogan. (back to the tower for me)

I understand Landing with gear down is preferred, but if heavy damaged or pilot wound it's not always that easy. AH2 was much easier to do land without landing gear. If AH3 is purposely making it more difficult, then I'll suck it up. I just was an answer if it's a bug, or something new to the game.
-
I haven't experienced the heavy bounce/explosion. I have noticed a lot more damaged props on landing however.

It is more than possible that AH3 has made it more difficult to belly land, though I honestly have not experienced any issues (provided my speed was below 150 and my nose wasn't pointed down too far)
I also have yet to try a ditch in the water, I feel it would be much harder to accomplish. :joystick:

Perhaps AH should not allow gearup landings on concrete, but only on grass.
-
Waaaahh-Keeem fly planes good but no land?

It will sound just as you are landing on the runway. No splashy splashy...

I think that neighborhood is tired of y'all zooming down its roads so they istalled speed bumps.
-
I have no problem with landing gear up or no gear deadstick no gear-or gear up so can stop sooner so I don't get vulched
-
Maybe you have to be gear up so your belly can contact the power ups lining the runway.
-
Those were the days when you could ditch going 450 :D
