In DX11 the screen freeze has been common. The sound continues but the only way out is the three finger salute that gets you to the task manger but clicking on that gets you the white screen. The only way out of that is power down the PC.
No DMPs generated.
Please note I have a clean intall of the latest drivers and have unchecked the power issues in usb ports.
I think this is different than the CTD that generates a dmp.
DX9 version seems to be free of this bug.

Hi Skuzzy,
I just had this happen to me just as Randy1 has described but had no white screen and didn't have to power down my box.
Provided a snippet of this screen freeze as seen thru MSI Afterburner.
Note the GPU usage, clocks, FPS & frametime went to 0 but the mem usage stayed up until the hard shutdown thru Task Manager.............. I marked the culprit section using MS Paint on the graph........
Dxdiag's provided.....................
Sure looks like there's a potential conflict between AHIII version of Dx11 and vid card drivers causing the GPU to randomly shut down.....but not create a hard page fault (CTD). May have something to do w\ GPU power control (AMD PowerTune 2.0)..........?
I'm currently running Crimson latest 16.10.3 drivers but have seen this occur on the previous 2 versions as well (16.10.1 & 16.10.2) but I saw no lockups w\ those....freeze for approx. .5 sec then resume as normal.
I take it that y'all don't want us to reinstall MS Dx11 June '10 redistro just yet to see if this fixes this issue, eh?

When you forced the shut down, did it generate a dmp file in the temp folder?

Attached. Sorry it took so long to reply. Got tied up on a home project then fading old man memory.

I double checked. There were no DMP files generated and stored in the HTC-AH3 temp file.

Did you see my DXDIAG?

Did you see my DXDIAG?
I did, and noticed the AMD/ATI HDMI audio pass through driver is enabled along with the RealTex audio drivers. We know the ATI/AMD audio driver is problematic, so it taints the report a bit.

In desperation, I had added the hdmi drivers back in to see what effect it would have. I have tried it with and without them but the freezes seem to independent of the hdmi amd audio drivers.
I can see how frustrating these freezes are to HTC. The vast number of video card, operating system soft and hardware combinations must be very large. Add to that one day you will have freezes and the next day not.

I am experiencing the freezes also .. hard reboot is the only way out.
Attached my dxdiag
thanks
