Offline Practice works with no problem but when I click OK on login screen the game crashes.
-
Uninstalled and reinstalled...twice.
Switch GPU back and forth.
Debug shows this
Unhandled exception at 0x0050F188 in aceshigh9.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000000.
-
Installed an old full download current to patch 6.
Press Online Arenas and it says I must update. I update and it downloads the 6 to 7 patch and I install it.
Same for 7 to 8 and 8 to 9 but when I am current to Patch 9 it goes to login screen and pressing okay results in game crash and throws the unhandled exception posted above.
Out of ideas.

Here is the .dmp file

This is just a wild guess, but it might be related to this:
Display Devices
---------------
Card name: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600
And this:
Sound Devices
-------------
Description: SAMSUNG (Intel(R) Display Audio)
Intel graphics are known not to work well with AH, no matter which version.
-
AH is forced to my Nvidia GPU. The Intel you see is the integrated GPU. I am running a dual GPU laptop.
-
Ah, OK. I should've guessed by the Nvidia 870M but it slipped past my eyes at the first time.

I appreciate you taking the time to have a look. I would love to find something I did or could do to resolve the situation. I missed FSO and an entire Saturday sitting in a hotel with nothing to do because of this bug.
:furious
-
Did you try both the DX9 and DX11 versions?
The dual GPU laptops have been a problem for us.

I have tried DX9 and DX11 versions on both GPU's all with identical error messages.
the .dmp file I attached above comes up in VS as "the thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access"
Anything I can do to help, let me know. I am traveling the next 7 days and will have lots of free hotel room time to burn.
Here is the DX9 .dmp from yesterday

We need the actual file. You will need to Zip the file up, as it is large. It is located in the "temp" folder of the game installation path.

Dawger, I found the bug that's causing your crash.
I apologize but I don't have a work around for you. We will have a patch out today or tomorrow.

He is sleeping off an overnight pond crossing right now...I'll forward this info to him so he is aware.
Thank you for the quick fix, and hopefully he'll be back in the air soon!

HiTech
Thanks for the good news. No problem on the work around.
As Dobs said I spent Sunday night flying an 8 hour leg and I am now dealing with the aftershock so I am not quite ready for prime time.
