What does killing the ammo bunkers at a Vbase do?

Denies rockets  (M4) and torpedoes (if the Vbase has also a PT spawn)

  Also puts more smoke in the sky, makes it tough to see ground targets, gives a place for the GV to hide.

I wondered why an attacking force would kill the ammo bunkers.  Guess some of the attackers were trying to capture, and some were neutralizing the base for offense.

ohhh I know why they took them down. 4 vehicle hangers, and a storch hanger can be taken down easily by 7 heavy fighters. Whats the other 15 guys suppose to drop on?
