Right now is the time to check out FSO. The January setup will be epic! Contact some participating squadrons to see if they have room for a walk-on pilot next month. There is nothing that compares to the action that FSO brings. :rock

Dear Santa,
I've been very good this year. May I please have a 262 for just one night in January's FSO?
Thank you.

If your squad doesn't currently fly FSO you can fly with another squad just for events.
You don't have to leave your MA squad to fly with another squad in FSO.
The more folks the merrier!!

JG54 will take in, help teach and train, anyone interested in flying FSO. No commitment necessary, just a want to learn and to have fun.
Nothing frightens a enemy more then knowing there's a "Grunherz" coming at them!

367th always has spots open for anyone wanting to fly FSO.

I feel the "No walk on" rule really scares some people away from FSO...most of the CO's could use 1 or 2 more pilots a week.

I thought that is why CO's of squads in FSO asked each other if they can throw a walk-on a uniform for that night? I watch Waystin get asked and also ask other CO's in turn. If you show up early in the tower and ask, someone usually has an extra uniform. It does tend to be community known players who walk in early but, nothing stops CO's during the week from asking another CO for a Friday night favor.

The issue with walk ons is a CiC issue, sqauds have commitment levels like 11 to 15 and the CiC has to arrange the planes accordingly. Doesnt have to be 11 to 15 it can be whatever the squad size is,3 to 5 could be the commitment but if all of a sudden we allowed walk ons, how is a CiC to setup for the event?
That said so long as a squad doesnt exceed their limit there's no reason to not allow some walk ons to fill the roster and get some experience then tell others.
I'd like to see more players in FSO but it has to be done in an orderly fashion.
YMMV.

Walk-ons are allowed but....it has to be handled on a personal level. You talk to someone about FSO, they come try it out, and if you have room put a uniform on them. I have invited folks and had to ask other CO's to pick them up because I am full. They have gladly done so (thank you again AK's, Jolly Rogers, and several others). It is a personal contact that makes the walk-ons succeed.
