The DX9 version should run, but not the DX11 version.  Though, it would not surprise me if there are problems.

I really do not know of any one who has.  Vista is so rare these days.  It would not hurt to try it.

To be fair, laptops can suffer a number of issues which are not related to Vista.  Built-in video devices (CPU based) are the biggest issue.

Was able to run AH 3 on Vista 64 home premium with a 2.8 GHz AMD CPU and 8GB DDR3 memory with AMD HD7750 1GB DDR5 video card. The video card struggled at 1080p resolution but ran better at 720p around 30 FPS. Gave that computer away about 6 months ago.

If you get Vista working, it's almost as good a platform as any other flavour of Windows, given the hardware is up to the task. The biggest issue is that Vista can be very cumbersome to get working properly and can become unstable by itself quite easily.

Microsoft support for Vista ends April 11, 2017. Might be time to consider upgrading.

The worst problem I had with Vista was the microsoft firewall used the same dll as a free add-on from microsoft for stuff like email/calendar/etc. The CPU would beat itself mercilessly basically crippling the computer until I uninstalled the add-on. Think it was called Microsoft Essentials and it came through the windows updater.
