I run dx9 so i don't have the freeze and crash issue, but i do some pretty impressive performance issues. I get up to and above 150fps right up until i get near a base firing ack (friendly or enemy)... the bigger the base the lower the frame... I hit 7fps today. I first thought it was the number of players in the area OR when i was near the ground and the detail was causing it, but it happens when the ack fires with just 2 players or 20 and with the graphics settings all down and off... I have a feeling it is my old phenom II, i know many newer games have issues with that CPU that have to be patched but i thought Id throw it our there to see if anyone's got any ideas or has had the same problem...

You runa 60hz display,so you should get 60 frames max but report up to 150 frames. I would try turning on Vsync and see if that helps.
Also depending on the settings you use it can have a drastic effect on frame rates.
Now all the guys who really know can answer you better!

Sounds like good advice to me.
I always use Vsync. The game appears more smooth and stable this way.

I've seen the same drop near large field ack.... drops from 144 to 50 ish when the guns start shooting

what texture size are you running? With only 2 meg or video ram I wouldn't max it out.

Biggest airfield kills framerates....occasionally run into an area where I get unexplained FPS drops....but the Biggest airfields are guaranteed FPS killers.

Turn on vsync :aok

Yeah i have vsync on normally, had it off in troubleshooting attempt. Even with it on it will hold at 60 until it doesn't, theres no difference when its on or off. my resolution is native at 1920x1080 and I'm only using about half my vid memory. and i have allot of graphics settings off like shadows which helps allot and reflections and ground clutter. and I'm not using max textures... thanks for suggestions though.

Ok uncheck post lighting, then move all sliders in graphic details to low level and set the top slider to faster.
You didnt mention what size max texture you are using, you could try 1024 as well and see if that helps.
