Can SLI work in AH3?

Not very well.  The default SLI profile works against the new graphic engine.  It was never right to begin with as it always disables vertical sync, which starts out wrong.

You must create your own profile, Randy, otherwise what Skuzzy said. SLI is not a straight up performance benefit unless you are comfortable in modifying custom profiles, or until HTC can convince Nvidia to include a proper profile.

Also, if you use HDMI to link your card to the monitor, NVidia nearly always assumes the HDMI cable is linked to a TV. Therefore, the color format, dynamic range and possibly refresh will be limited from the very beginning. You will recognize this in your display as blacks that are not truly black. There are fixes available, depending largely on your specific monitor hardware. Similar things are true of AMD GPUs.

Please be very careful though, because it is not hard to really mess up things with some of these utilities.

Not worth the cash layout. I ran SLI for a long time, now I do not. A single gtx 970 or gtx 1070 perform very well, all by themselves.
