Who ever decided to disable drop tanks on allied side, that stunk. Four of my squad ran out of fuel RTB.

The idea for FSO is historical operation setup. That includes rides, strength and target. The P-47 without DT is accurate because RL jugs in early ETO would have used fuel in DT before they get over Germany.

Was it also historically accurate that 9 of 10 didn't make it back due to having run out of fuel?
I get the idea, but this is also a game, and to disenfranchise a large number of players making them fly 400 miles, with 380 miles of fuel doesn't seem to me to be the best path to FSO excitement. Your mileage may very.

There was more than enough fuel to travel and fight. From what I saw in the logs a large majority of the Allied players rtb'ed.
The difference was you could not just fly all the while at full throttle. You had to keep an eye on your e6b and know when to break off. You had to save fuel on the way in to have it to fight and return safely. It added another dimension to the game that we don't get in the main.
Which is why I love FSO
