Title: Is there a way to...
Post by: 8thJinx on January 24, 2017, 10:46:31 AM
Is there a way to do any of the following:

1.  Delete a whole island
2.  Copy an island
3.  Mirror an island
4.  Rotate an island
5.  Copy an island from one terrain file to another

Thanks

Within the Terrain Editor not really. Except for delete. You can go into the elevation tab and change to the set alt for your brush, set alt to like -200 and then go with the brush and wipe out the land manually.

Outside of the terrain editor in Photoshop, yes. You would have to open up the .raw file for elevation in Photoshop and then move things around then re-save. I do have to say that editing a .raw file is tricky though.

I ended up creating rough drawings on a jpg I placed a 20x20 grid on to work out what I wanted and act as my blue print before I laid down the first land mass. The grid acted as a coordinate transfer to keep me on track and by creating jpgs for awhile when I changed my mind on something. I had less major changes while using the editor, and most mistakes were minor inside of say 8x8 miles. It's old school brute force but, I learned how to use the editor in more depth than I really think I wanted to. 2000 miles of mountain range and 2000miles of fjords. As soon as you can, get yourself a raw file elevation editor to do the grunt work.
